Located in a quiet neighbourhood where one can find the Italian and German embassies, the birthplace of Amália Rodrigues and the place where Luis de Camões is supposed to have lived his last days (Calçada de Santana, nº 139). It is very close to the famous Bairro Alto, a nightlife area, which can be reached by walking down Rossio or by taking the “Elevador do Lavra”, the oldest funicular in Lisbon.

This 120 year old elevator goes every 15 minutes down to Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, the location of many excellent fish restaurants as recommended by many city guides. Located nearby are many small shops and restaurants, and is short walking distance from the other picturesque neighbourhoods of S. Jorge Castle, Alfama, Chiado, and Bairro Alto. The area is served by 2 subway lines, numerous bus lines, and tram lines that will help you explore the city and nearby tourist sights such as Sintra and Cascais or the beaches around Caparica and the Estoril coast.
