This cottage looked so adorable on the web page we just had to try it .. and we weren't disappointed. Everything inside was brand new but has still kept that cosy cottage feel. It was clean and spotless, the beds were comfortable and very well equipped throughout. We brought 2 cars but there's plenty space to park as it is a detahced cottage with a long driveway. It is incredibly peaceful with lovely walks round the Loch just across the road. My daughter put bread on the bird table outside the kitchen window and we couldnt beileve the variety we saw - including at night - owls !
It is a good base for touring and the drive in both directions to Invenress or to Fort Augustus are truly stunning. Our only regret is that we missed the log fire so much we have ended up having one put in to our living room back home - but in a city there is no endless supply of free logs like there is in Woodside.
Being high up above Loch Ness there did not seem to be a problem with midges like there is down by the water where we have stayed before. Our dog loved it too - especially so much space to run round the garden.
We highly recommend this lovely cottage - and if you like cooking, the kitchen has everything you can imagine.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for the great review Georgina. We're so happy you had a great week in Woodside and that it had everything you needed. Please thank your daughter for the lovely drawing of all the birds and animals she saw in the Highlands - it is up on our office wall ! Hope to welcome you back some day.

The nicest place we've ever stayed

Review Submitted: January 4, 2012 Date of Stay: November 2011
We came to Woodside with my family for a quiet week away from it all and as a base for touring the Highands. We were not disappointed. It is idyllic here. A stream running through the garden, loads of wildlife, absolute peace and quiet, and the most comfortable, warm and fully kitted out place we've ever stayed. There are board games, endless supplies of logs for the fire, every kitchen gadget you can imagine, all beautifully decorated and new inside and out, we couldn't fault a thing. Plus Iain and Turan are very helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
It was the perfect base for us to unwind and to tour the beautiful Scottish countryside. The huge kitchen was great for cooking all the lovley local produce we bought on our travels, and a huge bath for long relaxing soaks after a day hill walking. Paradise !
Owner's Response: We're delighted you had such a great stay at Woodside, Brian. The total refurbishmnet of Woodside has clearly been worth it. We had a few trees removed from the garden too, so there is firewood enough for years to come - everyone seems to love a real log fire. We hope to welcome you back again some time. All returners get a discount and an extra special welcome pack.

Cosy, charming and everything you need

Review Submitted: January 4, 2012 Date of Stay: December 2011
We stayed here for a New Year holiday and totally loved it. Woodside has been completely refurbished with a new kitchen and totally redecorated since we stayed here in 2009 (it is our third visit). There is a big log fire in the living room and limitless logs outside, so we really felt warm and toasty. The bedrooms are very warm and comfortable with central heating.
It is very quiet and the kitchen is incredibly well equipped. There is loads of parking space and a huge garden.
We did day trips to Fort William, Skye, Inverness is just 20 minutes away. We will be back for a 4th visit next summer.
