Steeped in maritime history Newhaven will appeal to anyone with a nautical flair. The Marina is one of the Sussex coasts hidden gems and West Quay is an ideal location to watch the fishing fleet come in and buy fresh fish. Yet whether it is yachting, scuba diving or any number of watersports that appeal, they can all be found in Newhaven. The town also holds a few surprises, including one of Sussexs rare sandy beaches and a market day frequently attended by French traders offering superb cheeses, pastries, leather goods and traditional craft items. A must for those with an eye for a bargain.
In an area of outstanding natural beauty the town is central to some beautiful countryside, including the South Downs and the Seven Sisters Country Park. Idyllic for walkers, from Kings House garden one can directly access the walks along the cliffs to Newhaven Fort and you can get down to the beach.
