The Apokoronas area is situated east of the city of Chania and west of the city of Rethymnon. There is one airport near Chania within 30 minutes to reach and another one in Heraklion, one and a half our to go. The district has a size of 313 km² and in the 75 villages live approxemately 13.000 people, many of them are farmers (olives, citrus fruits, vine, sheep and goats). As presumed the word “Apokoronas” comes from the the ancient city of “Ippokoronos” or “Ippokoronion”. The area is one of the most green cretan landscapes because of the water coming in many small rivers from the Levka Ori, the White Mountains. The area is a delightful mix of incomparable landscape and rich vegetation, of tranquil villages partly built from local stone – you may even find the occasional donkey! Increasingly popular with Northern Europeans, Apokoronou has become slightly more cosmopolitan whilst firmly retaining its Cretan heritage and culture.

The villa itself has an extremely spacious open lounge, dining and kitchen area with three sets of large sliding doors opening to the selection of covered and sun terraces, looking out to the mountains and sea. The fully fitted, modern kitchen with high gloss cream units and stainless steel appliances has a central chefs island and every modern convenience you could wish for should you wish to cook at home. The four large bedrooms (three twins and one double) all have en-suite shower rooms. The villa has air conditioning throughout. But to make the most of the wonderful weather and Greek outdoor living relax on the loungers, or eat al fresco after cooking local produce from the nearby villages on the covered outdoor kitchen area with brick BBQ and separate wood oven. Cool off in the large, beautiful swimming pool set on the cliffs edge and enjoy a cocktail as you gaze out over the sea, seated at the swim up bar.

Watch the breath taking sunsets from the roof terrace, or if you can bear to leave the Villa visit the nearby beaches of Kera, Almyrida or Kalives. Almyrida and Kalives have a good selection of tavernas, cafes and shops and retain some of their original Cretan charm without succumbing to mass tourism. Villa Azur is perfect for families or friends looking for a holiday with peace, privacy and complete relaxation with the most amazing views in a villa that has everything you could wish for. Please note that due to it’s private, rural location a car is highly recommended with this villa.
