Conwy is situated on the North Wales coast, just inside the River Conwy estuary and is an excellent base for exploring North Wales. The 700 year old castle guards the entrance of the walled Harbour which offers fishing and boat trips, a marina and a sandy beach with views to Anglesey and Puffin Island. Conwy boasts several good restaurants (where you can try the famous Conwy mussels), inns and fish & chip shops. There are also plenty of activities to keep you occupied, including exploring the local history, golf, walking, cycling, fishing, building sand castles on the beach or even a day trip to Dublin from Holyhead!
There are over 200 listed buildings within the town walls, including Aberconwy House which dates back to the 14th century and is believed to be the oldest surviving townhouse in Wales, Plas Mawr which is an Elizabethan townhouse and not forgetting The Smallest House in Britain.
