Villa Lydia is a pretty peach colour with white aluminium doors, windows and shutters. Through an archway overlooking the pool, is the south-west facing covered front terrace which has a marble table and 4 chairs. At the rear of the villa there is a large BBQ made from natural stone and brick. Both bedrooms have double doors that open out onto a balcony which enjoys the beautiful mountain views.
The charming Greek owner has furnished the villa throughout in a modern Cretan style with matching wood furniture, and brightly coloured curtains and bedspreads. The bathroom and shower room are finished to a very high standard with beautiful tiles. All modern comforts have been provided for at Villa Lydia including a TV, DVD and CD players, a washing machine, and air conditioning units in the bedrooms and the living room. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season there is a fireplace in the lounge, and the a/c units also double up as heaters.
The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater.
Villa Lydia and its sister villa are perfect for either families or couples who like to be independent but not reliant on a car for getting around. The two villas can be booked together by large groups or families who would like to be near to each other yet value their privacy. These villas are ideal for those of you who would like to have a drink with your meals out and not have to worry about driving home!
The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 250m from Villa Lydia, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour. The beach is shallow and safe which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are 4 excellent tavernas, 9 café/bars, 2 bakeries, 2 jewellery shops, 5 mini-markets, 3 gift shops, an off-license, and the Villas Crete Holidays tourist office.
There is also a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans.
