Completely renovated to a high standard in 2008, this typical Breton granite longere now offers extremely well appointed, flexible accommodation for up to six, plus baby; or couples can occupy just the 4 poster master suite and enjoy all the spacious living accommodation and sunny deck at a big discount. The living accommodation is light and airy with a modern well equipped kitchen, dining area with access to the garden and comfy seating area with traditional log burner. The master suite has a 4 poster kingsize bed and the other 2 bedrooms have twin beds that can be converted to kingsize doubles on request. The house is situated in south-west facing grounds with a large BBQ terrace and shrub bordered lawn leading to an apple orchard with uninterrupted views across ancient moor land. Nearby Plemet is a bustling village with restaurants bars, a good supermarket, a variety of small shops, and a fishing lake fed by the River Lie surrounded by parkland and a children's play area.

Le Camus is a lovely spot for a holiday, in a friendly rural area that makes it just so easy to relax and forget all the pressures of everyday life. However as the central Breton 'crossroads' town of Loudeac is just 10 minutes drive away with its direct access to the major routes crossing the region any destination is easily accessible for guests wishing to explore other parts of Brittany. Plemet the local town is in an extremely scenic location and has a trout lake, surrounded by parkland with children's play area. There are many marked walking and cycling routes around Plemet and its neighbouring communes, whilst the proximity of the River Lie also makes it a focal point for Anglers visiting the region. Just 2km up-river kayaks and all terrain bikes can be hired whilst there are stables with ponies for hire in nearby Loudeac Forest.

Le Grand Camus provides an extremely comfortable holiday retreat, while retaining its original charm. The living area comprises an open plan kitchen/dining room/living room that is full of light and has wonderful views over the garden, forest and valley beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped with a range cooker with double electric oven and 5 ring gas hob. There is a dishwasher and fridge/freezer, a microwave and full range of small appliances. The dining room has French doors and an extendable table to seat 6-8. The living room has 3 comfortable sofas, a log burner, a TV/DVD player with free to air UK programmes. A music system with radio, CD & iPod jack is also provided, as are a wide range of books and board games to suit all tastes. On the ground floor there is also a bedroom with twin beds that can be zipped together to provide a king sized bed if required. The adjacent ground floor shower room with walk-in shower also houses the water heater and washing machine.

Upstairs the master bedroom has a four poster superking sized bed in a large room with exposed oak beams and chandeliers - ideal for a romantic getaway. The room has superb views. All bedrooms have hanging space, chests, mirrors and chairs. The ensuite bathroom is a large airy room with double ended bathtub. The other upstairs suite also has exposed beams and southwest facing views. The bedroom is full of light and can be either a twin or a superking sized double. The ensuite shower room like all the bathrooms has a walk in shower, sink with shaver point and WC. In addition to log burner in the sitting area, oil filled radiators and ample insulation make the property comfortable year round. Duvets appropriate to the season are provided. A cot, stair gate and high chair can be provided on request, subject to availability.

Outside Le Grand Camus has an extremely spacious wooden decked area with built in stone BBQ and plenty of solid wood garden furniture. Next to the decked area is a private lawn with flower borders, beyond which is the paddoack and orchard shared with Le Petit Camus.

We spent Easter week 2009 here and had such a wonderful time that we re-visited at the end of May and have booked again for 2010. What a fabulous gite and the location is lovely! This has featured in frequent daydreams under "our ideal place in France" - and here it is in reality - so beautifully refurbished and in such a tranquil spot. There is plenty of good walking and cycling in the area and both the north and south coasts are easy to reach. We really appreciated the welcome pack, indeed we've developed quite a taste for the local cider and bought and a set of bolees (cider cups) so that we can have the authentic Breton experience at home until our planned return later this year.
