Photos and Description of this Seaview holiday cottage
3 bedroomed cottage to sleep 6 in the charming seaside village of Seaview

'High Tide' is a delightful three bedroomed seaside home with loggia and decked terrace, overlooking the Solent. Located in the charming seaside village of Seaview, on the Island's east coast, the cottage is an ideal retreat for a family beach holiday, and for everyone who loves sailing, walking or just relaxing in 'a gentler world' (The Daily Telegraph). High Tide is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac at the top of Seaview village. At the end of this short road is the former Seagrove Manor House; and there is a recreational area where children can let off any remaining steam after their day on the beach. A footpath from the Manor House leads down to Seagrove Bay and onto Priory Bay, perhaps the best beach on the Island.

Seaview is renowned for sailing. As well as a leading yacht club, the village has a number of public slipways, which makes it an ideal location for messing about in boats. The village is also a centre for other water sports including windsurfing, water skiing and fishing.

The beaches at Seaview are perfect for a traditional seaside holiday. There is sand for building castles, rocks from which to go crabbing and, at low tide, rock pools for shrimping. Priory Bay, possibly the best beach on the Island, is just a 15 minute walk away from ‘High Tide’, along a peaceful footpath.

In recent years, the Island has attracted avid foodies. It has everything from Michelin-standard dining to beach cafes, many featuring locally produced meat, fish, vegetables, cheeses and wines. The nearest award winning establishment, The Seaview Hotel and Restaurant, is just a short stroll away from ‘High Tide’.

Notes: Seaview is a place to get away from it all - and that includes the internet! It is currently impossible to get a decent home broadband connection at High Tide. However, if you do wish to surf the internet instead of the waves, and have mobile broadband, you should be able to do so at High Tide. (We have successfully used a Vodafone dongle and a Blackberry on the Orange network.) Alternatively, you can use an internet computer free of charge at the library in Ryde. There are also a number of other places where you can enjoy free wi-fi on the Isle of Wight; details are available from the Tourist Information Centre, 81-83 Union St, Ryde - 01983 813 818.

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Seaview, United Kingdom

‘High Tide’ has been extended and refurbished into a delightful, ‘New England’ style, seaside home. Its rooms are fresh and light, and it is finished to a high standard. The ground floor comprises a large sitting room with a solid-fuel fire, opening into the loggia. Here one can either watch the freesat TV or all the activity on the busy Solent. Extensive sea views are also offered by the conservatory/dining area, where six can eat and then relax in comfort, overlooking the large enclosed garden with two paved terraces and a barbeque. The conservatory opens onto a decked terrace, where al fresco meals can be enjoyed whilst watching ocean shipping pass to and from Southampton.

There is a spacious and well equipped kitchen; and a utility area, with its own entrance for those returning damp and sandy from the beach. A shower-room is handily situated off the utility area; and on the ground floor there is also a twin bedroom and a bathroom.

Upstairs, either side of a third loo, there is a large twin bedroom and double bedroom, each with a washbasin and stunning sea views.

The centre of the village, which retains all of its Victorian charm, is only a short stroll away, as are sandy beaches, crabbing rocks and public slipways for sailing. The village centre has some useful shops (including one selling fresh croissants), an award-winning restaurant and an excellent sea-front pub.

The Isle of Wight is an all year round destination, with some of the best weather in the country. This makes it not only a favourite for beach and sailing holidays, but also those who like to walk, ride, cycle, bird-watch or visit attractions for children or places of historic interest. Much of the Island is a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; and it hosts the UK’s largest walking festival.

Home from Home

Review Submitted: September 27, 2011 Date of Stay: September 2011
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at High Tide. The house has everything you could need, very well equipped and plenty of room. The views were as good as we had hoped and we never tired of watching the ships pass. The local shops are only a 2 minute walk away and the sea front a few steps further on. We would highly recommend High Tide to anyone.

A lovely house in a lovely village

Review Submitted: August 17, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We stayed at High Tide for the second time a few weeks ago. Very straightforward to book and easy to find by following the instructions given. The house was as expected, clean, well equipped, welcoming and spacious. The views over the water of the boats from the conservatory are fabulous, which is helped by the daily and weekly notices in the village detailing what large ships will be passing and when. Seaview is a lovely village and a great base for exploring the island. The beach is good for crabbing or you can walk a little further through the fields to the idyllic Priory Bay or walk the other way along the sea front all the way to Ryde. The warm croissants available daily from 8am in the village shop were an extra breakfast treat. Our 3 young boys (5, 5 and 8) loved the house and the Isle of Wight and we would thoroughly recommend both the house and the Isle of Wight.

lovely bungalow

Review Submitted: July 14, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We stayed here at the begining of July for a weekend and found it to be a charming homely holiday home with lovely sea views and an ideal location. The furnishing all have a sea side theme and there is a very nice terrace to sit outside and take in the garden as well as a conservatory if the weather isn't so good. The island is as lovely as I remember it, having lived there for a while, many years ago. There are some nice little pubs nearby and of course there is the short walk down to the seafront. I would definately recommend this property and hope to return myself, sometime in the near future.

Gorgeous home with a gorgeous view.

Review Submitted: June 21, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
This cottage is really home away from home, so well equipped, comfy and cosy. The conservatory with it's view was just lovely, as was breakfast outside in the sun on the deck! Great facilities close by in the village. Fab Thai restaurant who deliver to the cottage. All in all we had a super stay with not a single disappointment. Am sure we will be back for another visit when time allows.

Lovely location and lovely view

Review Submitted: May 26, 2011 Date of Stay: May 2011
This cottage has a good location in the charming seaside village of Seaview and is spacious for a 3 bed property. The property delivered everything that it promised in the descripton. The view over the Solent from the conservatory was particularly pleasant in the evenings. There are a couple of nice pubs, restaurants and shops just a five minute walk away which catered for all our needs without being busy. We had a great stay and will return.
