On the edge of the Parc National de Volcans, the gite is surrounded by lovely countryside, rivers and gorges. Ideal for walking, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, ballooning, rafting, outdoor swimming, canoeing, skiing. There are therapeutic spas such as Vichy and La Bourboule, plenty of castles and ancient villages if you like history. Traditional market towns such as Montlucon and the fascinating city of Clermont Ferrand. Also there is a volcano theme park - great for kids and big kids! If you would like us to research any local activities prior to your stay, please let us know. We have a set of Carte Bleu maps for our guests to borrow.

    There are several ways to get to Gite la Jonchere. By train, take the Eurostar to Paris, then the train to Clermont Ferrand. There is car hire in Clermont Ferrand train station. Alternatively fly to Clermont Ferrand or Limoges, car rental is available in both airports. By Car, the shortest drive is from Caen, and you can take an overnight ferry from Portsmouth to break up the journey.

The barn conversion has an open plan living area with a woodburning stove, dining for 4 and a fully equipped kitchen. During summer guests are also welcome to use the separate converted stable which has twin beds, wc and washbasin - great for older kids! There are plenty of outdoor activities locally, and the gite is equipped with books, games, DVDs and WiFi if you prefer to relax indoors. The gite is attached to our cottage, so we are there if you need us, but we will respect your privacy during your stay. As a guest in the gite you are welcome to use our garden. the gite is fully equipped for self catering, and we are also offer breakfast and delicious evening meals made from locally sourced produce. We accept sterling and euros. Please check our website or enquire if you would like our rates in Euros.
