The Hay Store has been awarded sufficient points as would normally bring it within the maximum 5 star grading, although it has not been awarded this, due to the loss of privacy offered by the mezannine bedroom, which prohibits apparently five star grading. It has thus been awarded four star, but the points reflects the high quality. Naturally there are hardwood kitchen units, stone worktops and a stone sink in the raised kitchen area, that is extremely well equipped.
The living room/dining area/kitchen area is open plan with the roof being open to the rafters to expose the most wonderful beams (Queens Trusses for those in the know!).
Despite being open to the rafters, the Hay store is extremely warm in even the coldest of winters and can quickley be heated up, with the latest technology in insulation, and benefitting from central heating, with a log effect stove being installed in the property really just to add to the atmsphere.
The Bathroom has a full sized shower with shower over. In front of the cottage is a large garden laid mainly to lawn, on the other side of which are dry stone walls, a feature of the local area. In the cottage there are 8 detailed information folders, partially written personally by the owners, and organised such that the leaflets on the commercial attractions are set out in order of proximity to the cottages. These folders are generally regarded as amongst the best in the business. One of these folders contain details of 20 circular walks from this non-working farm, or linear walks involving catching the really scenic punctual and raved about bus service and after exiting the bus, walking back to the cottage.
Standards of housekeeping are literally second to none, something regularly commented on by our guests, and reflected in the 100% grading by our Tourist Board Inspector in this department.
Cycle hire is available from the owners at one half of the cost charged by commerical operators and breakfast packs are available at cost.
