Delightful Holiday Cottage

Water's Edge is a really lovely place to stay. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We had a very warm welcome from Dave and Jean, including a fabulous cream tea. They really have thought of everything! The location was very peaceful (except for a few cockerels) and very convenient for exploring north Cornwall.
We were four adults and one child and the living space was just right for us. The door between the living room and bedrooms meant that we could chat and have the TV on in the evening without waking the sleeping two year old. We didn't use the outside patio area, mainly because it wasn't possible to spend time out there with a small child, without keeping holding of his hand, as there is no fence between the patio and the river. We did go out regularly to look at the cows, ducks and chickens, which were a big hit.
Just a couple of small niggles - firstly, the limited kitchen surface and food storage space (though that's not really Jean and Dave's fault), as we ate virtually all our evening meals at the cottage and made packed lunches. Secondly, and almost certainly temporary, the long black hairs we found everywhere, including in the kitchen sink. Neither of these would prevent us returning, however (though we tend to go to different places each year, so if we don't return, it's not a bad sign).
We did think that a little shop by the entrance to Inny Vale, selling basics like bread and milk, would be very handy...
Boscastle, Tintagel, Bude, Port Isaac etc. were all great places to visit. We particularly loved Port Isaac. The cottage was also in an ideal location for a day trip to the south coast. We had glorious weather (perhaps the only sunny week this August), which added to the feeling that we'd had a really relaxing holiday.
Thank you Jean and Dave!

Owner's Response: We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Waters Edge and that you chose the best week in August to come!
Admittedly, the space is limited in a holiday cottage of this kind and it is difficult to provide all the necessary appliances that most holidaymakers demand and still leave some empty work surface. We 'll take your comments on board and see if there is some way we can re-arrange the kitchen area to provide a little more working space. However, we may lose even more food storage space if we change things around! We'll try and rise to the challenge though!
We are truly sorry that you found long black hairs everywhere especially in the kitchen sink. We provide hair traps in the sinks but some guests obviously don't use them and, as a result, a build-up occurs. We always give the property a thorough clean between lets and we are sorry we missed the hairs. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and we will endeavour to check things more carefully in future.
Hopefully we'll see you at the cottage sometime in the future.
Best wishes to you all.
Jean and Dave
