Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Davidstow, United Kingdom

Waters Edge is a comfortable, modern 3 bedroomed bungalow, furnished to a high standard and well equipped for 5 people. It is set in a peaceful valley on the banks of the River Inny on a small, select development of similar properties. Parking spaces are allocated to each property and the communal gardens are beautifully kept. The kitchen, lounge and dining area is open plan with oak flooring throughout. The back door gives access to the private patio which overlooks the River Inny. This is more of a stream than a river but is a peaceful place to sit and watch a great variety of birds and the cows and sheep in the meadow opposite.

The bedrooms are all carpeted and are separated from the lounge area by an inner lobby. The beds will be made up for your arrival. A hand towel and a bath towel are provided for each guest but we would ask you to bring your own beach towels. There is electric heating in all rooms making it an ideal retreat in the cooler months.

Electricity is included in the price from April till the end of September.. An additional charge of £2.00 per day will be made from the beginning of October until the end of March. A tennis court is on site and tennis racquets and tennis balls are provided. We aim to greet our guests on arrival so we can make sure that the accommodation meets with approval. A welcome tray is provided for all our guests and we are also willing to provide a breakfast pack if required.

Delightful Holiday Cottage

Review Submitted: October 13, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011
Water's Edge is a really lovely place to stay. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We had a very warm welcome from Dave and Jean, including a fabulous cream tea. They really have thought of everything! The location was very peaceful (except for a few cockerels) and very convenient for exploring north Cornwall.

We were four adults and one child and the living space was just right for us. The door between the living room and bedrooms meant that we could chat and have the TV on in the evening without waking the sleeping two year old. We didn't use the outside patio area, mainly because it wasn't possible to spend time out there with a small child, without keeping holding of his hand, as there is no fence between the patio and the river. We did go out regularly to look at the cows, ducks and chickens, which were a big hit.

Just a couple of small niggles - firstly, the limited kitchen surface and food storage space (though that's not really Jean and Dave's fault), as we ate virtually all our evening meals at the cottage and made packed lunches. Secondly, and almost certainly temporary, the long black hairs we found everywhere, including in the kitchen sink. Neither of these would prevent us returning, however (though we tend to go to different places each year, so if we don't return, it's not a bad sign).

We did think that a little shop by the entrance to Inny Vale, selling basics like bread and milk, would be very handy...

Boscastle, Tintagel, Bude, Port Isaac etc. were all great places to visit. We particularly loved Port Isaac. The cottage was also in an ideal location for a day trip to the south coast. We had glorious weather (perhaps the only sunny week this August), which added to the feeling that we'd had a really relaxing holiday.

Thank you Jean and Dave!

Owner's Response: We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Waters Edge and that you chose the best week in August to come!

Admittedly, the space is limited in a holiday cottage of this kind and it is difficult to provide all the necessary appliances that most holidaymakers demand and still leave some empty work surface. We 'll take your comments on board and see if there is some way we can re-arrange the kitchen area to provide a little more working space. However, we may lose even more food storage space if we change things around! We'll try and rise to the challenge though!

We are truly sorry that you found long black hairs everywhere especially in the kitchen sink. We provide hair traps in the sinks but some guests obviously don't use them and, as a result, a build-up occurs. We always give the property a thorough clean between lets and we are sorry we missed the hairs. Thanks for bringing it to our attention and we will endeavour to check things more carefully in future.

Hopefully we'll see you at the cottage sometime in the future.

Best wishes to you all.

Waters Edge Cottage

Review Submitted: August 19, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
This was our second time staying at the cottage and we had a wonderful time. So much to see and do, you need never be in, but when you are, you have everything you could wish for. Every kitchen utensil you could possibly need on a holiday, books, magazines, games and films , just perfect! Dave and Jean were wonderful and we were met with a wonderful cream tea that my daughters were in raptures about.
The cottage is sooooo........... comfortable and that includes the beds. Everything was spotless and we really felt at home there. The whole area is well maintained and the tennis courts were a hit with the kids. No noise to worry about, just brill! It really is the perfect place to stay. We would highly recommend it but don't take my word for it , book your holiday with confidence and see for your self.

Owner's Response: We're so glad that you enjoyed your second stay here. Sometimes a second visit never quite lives up to the first but that doesn't seem to be the case here. The peace and quiet is very relaxing and, hopefully, gives everyone a chance to enjoy a stress free holiday. Hope we may see you for a third time sometime in the future! Best wishes to you all.

Lovely holiday home near to the coast

Review Submitted: May 12, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011
This was our 2nd stay at Waters Edge. Once again we were warmly welcomed by Jean. Bungalow was clean, tidy, well equipped. Very near to Tintagel, Boscastle and Trebarwith Strand (which was our favourite beach! Though watch out for superfast tides!!!!!!) Tennis court onsite was well used by our children. House was warm, plenty of hot water and slept soooooo well at night...comfy beds, nice and dark (because of blinds!) and quiet. Thanks again for a lovely break. x

Lovely Relaxing Stay

Review Submitted: May 12, 2011 Date of Stay: April 2011
Cottage lovely, location and area very peacful! We loved Boscastle and Sunday Lunch at Lanhdydrock. The Farm at the back of the cottage is great and liked seeing the Cows driking in the Stream in the mornings - just wish we could have bought some fresh eggs! Cottage is very well equiped, although the worktop spaces are very cramped, and thought it mean leaving only half a new sponge!

On our last morning, we were being shown round a property for sage a few doors along and when we came out the owner had already been into the Cottage to see if he could start cleaning. Once he saw all our things still in the Cottage, we thougth it would have been polite not to have gone in, especially when he said don't rush leaving the Cottage in the morning as there isn't a change over, then sat outside reading a book while we packed up, which made us really feel like we had overstayed our welcome!!

Owner's Response: I am really sorry you felt that you had overstayed your welcome. That was not the intention at all. The normal leaving time is 10.00am and, as you say, we told you not to rush to leave by that time. However, we knew that you had mentioned that you had to be in Plymouth at 12.30 so we assumed you would be well on your way when Dave came to clean. After carrying all the clean linen etc. from the car it was easier for him to leave it in a spare room when he realised that you hadn't actually left.

As for the half a sponge - I really thought I had got rid of that one and left you a brand new dishcloth and other washing up implements. There is always plenty of new cleaning cloths etc kept under the sink.

We try our best to make guests feel welcome and try to provide little extras to help make their stay get off to a good start as well as being as relaxed as we can about arrival and departure times when at all possible. I'm sorry we didn't quite meet your expectations.

Lovely country get away

Review Submitted: January 5, 2011 Date of Stay: December 2010
Hi,

Myself and 4 friends stayed at this holiday home during the 2010/11 new year.

The cottage is set among several other cottages and has a really pretty little river right out the back door.

The holiday home was immaculate, modern and contained everything needed for a break away from the daily grind.

We all wanted to stay to visit the Cornish area and the coast line. It was perfectly placed if you have a car. Most places were 45mins to an hour drive.

We also drove down to lands end which was only 1 hour and 40 mins away. If you head down this way don't miss Sennen Cove.

The highlights were definitely Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isacc.

Jean and David were great hosts and there was even a hot drink and some cake on arrival.

Can thoroughly recommended staying here if you want a beautiful country break.

Cheers
Brendan

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed Cornwall and were able to visit places a little further afield as well as the more local highlights of Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac. More visitors should take the opportuniy of exploring the county in the winter months when it is not so crowded. It is lovely at any time of year. It is good to know the cottage was warm and comfortable and you enjoyed the peaceful setting. Perhaps we'll see you again sometime!
