Kato Paphos holiday apartment: Tomb of the Kings

We stayed at the property for 8 days in early February 2009. We found the description given was excellent and all facilities were also as described. Location is slightly out of the main town which suited us, very convenient for Tombs of the Kings and for the coast path to town, which takes about 45-50 minutes each way.

The property has ample room for 4 people with a fifth possible on a sofa bed in the living area. All crockery, furnishing, etc. was tastefully chosen and in very good condition. The kitchen is well equipped with full size cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave. The main bathroom has a full size bath with shower over and the en-suite shower room adjoining the main bedroom is of a good size. The air-conditioning also doubles as heating if the temperature drops.

The complex itself was not fully completed when we were there but the site was very clean, even though building work was still underway. The access from the apartment to the swimming pool area is via a ramp maiking this an idela apartment for a wheelchair user. The swimming pool itself is unheated in the Winter period so we did not venture in, however, it does look very inviting.

The outside area of the apartment comprises a large paved patio area to the side and rear of the property, a decked area at the rear and a landscaped garden area to the side. Unfortunately because of the time of year many of the restaurants were not fully open. We did eat at Duomo, an Italian restaurant just 10-15 minutes walk away and two different restaurants along the harbour front, both of which were very good.

We felt we were lucky with the weather but as it was our first visit to Southern Cyprus we cannot comment on whether this was typical or not. I know it can rain quite a lot but we had 7 days of very pleasant weather.

The owner advised us that the cost of a taxi from the airport to the apartment would be approximately 30 euro each way, so we decided that it would be more convenient and economical for us to hire a car, which we arranged before we left home. This also allowed us to travel further afield, including the Akamas peninsula where the turtle beach at Lara is located with turtles visiting in July/August. We also travelled up into the Troodos mountains, experiencing sunshine and snow in one day.

I hope that this information will be useful to anyone planning a visit to the area. All in all we found it an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.
