Gokcebel is a quiet authentic Turkish village set in the hills behind the sea town of Yalikavak and 20 minutes drive from the busy city of Bodrum.

Gokcebel wakes to the sound of cow bells as villagers move their prized cows to graze the hills behind the village. Day to day village life is easily observed from Gokcebel; bread being made in outdoor ovens, hens being chased into yards and the small market activity of some mornings. Hill walking and exploring opportunities are plentiful, the odd ancient tomb can even be spotted.Charmingly, there are no cafes or restaurants in the village but a wide variety are within easy driving distance in Yalikavak and beyond. Yalikavak and its environs has many colourful and busy beaches but quiet, even isolated beaches with clear clean water can also be easily reached. Yalikavak also boasts a large open market on a Thursday specialising in local food and textiles.

In short, Gokcebel offers the quietness of a village with access to holiday action.

Cream house is characterful and spacious villa perfect for a family or group wishing for a quiet holiday.it is on a private section, not on a complex of houses. It thereefore has its own private pool. There are many terraces and private spots that make this villa perfect for a group with different needs. Gokcebel is a quiet village but has has access to the city, Bodrum, a 20minute drive away, with all its cultural, shopping, boating and sailing opportunities. From Gokcebel, the Bodrum peninsular offers you the contrast of either quiet deserted beaches or upbeat beaches. There is a wide range of both traditional and sophisticated eating places, water sports and boating opportunities, golfing and horse riding opportunities.

Generally it is necessary to leave Gokcebel to find a eating places. However, over the summer months there is now a village woman who serves breakfast in her garden, sometimes spilling over into the cow's field as demand for this authentic and entertaining experience increases! It is a minute walk from the house and can be booked by visiting her anytime

Gokcebel is a 40 minute drive from the airport and although a car is not essential it is recommended. Car rental can be arranged with pick up from the airport. The main road into Bodrum from the airport is very good.

For those wishing to include Bodrum as a Turkey visit that includes Istanbul, there are many daily flights to Istanbul from Bodrum. The flight is just under and hour and if booked early prices are very reasonable.

The villa's garden and pool are serviced daily, by Hasan, a local man. He will also ensure you have plenty of bottled water available. Just let him know if the 6 lire bottles are getting low and he will get them replaced. They are about 6 TL per bottle. Hasan is available any time of the day should there be an emergency in the house.

Cream house is an original Bodrum summer house and is well designed to ensure the inside, particularly the ground floor, is very cool even in the hottest months. Upstairs there is air conditioning but with the mosquito- netted windows open there is always a mountain breeze and generally the air conditioning is not necessary. The main room has a fan above the bed.

In the cooler months there is central heating available so the house can be enjoyed in all seasons of the year. It is perfect in the cooler months as the house backs onto the mountains with many walking and adventuring opportunities. The sea is warm and even on a sunny day in the Winter it is a pleasure to swim in.

Gokcebel is also in easy car access to the wide variety of beautiful ancient sites scattering the mountains , along with authentic Turkish villages in the Bodrum peninsular and beyond. It is even possible to do a day trip to Ephesus[Efes in Turkish], arguably the best Ancient Roman ruin in Turkey. Efes is about a 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Gokcebel.

Bodrum is also in easy reach of Greece. There are daily day trips to the island of Kos, either by boat or the rather quicker hydrofoil. There are also daily boat trips to Datca, the beautiful piece of land that stretches out before Bodrum, difficult to reach by car but a short trip by boat and well worth the effort.

A traditional and always restful experience is to rent a gulet , traditional local boat, for a day trip. There are many available, but if at all possible ordering a private boat is always the best experience. These can usually take up to 10 people and serve a delicious lunch cooked on board by the captain as the boat puts into anchor in an isolated bay and you swim from the boat.

No matter what time of year you are visiting Turkey, Cream house is the perfect villa to enjoy the best of Turkish village life in a quiet and beautiful environment.
