In one word? Perfect!

Review Submitted: November 1, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
Milestones is a lovely cottage in a sympathetic quite village in the Cottswolds. For us it's the perfect place to escape from our daily Dutch lives and enjoy the peace and quite of England and the English countryside. We simply love this place! We play games with our son, visit villages in the neighbourhood or play baseball on the huge playground behind the villagestore. No matter what you might be in for, there are a million things to see and do in this area.
The old cottage has been beautyfully renovated, with walls of Cottswold stones and giant old beams, both down- and upstairs. The cottage is clean (even smells perfect!) and has been tastfully decorated. Everything you might need during your holiday is there, including a very nice logburner, a bubblebath and milk and cookies upon arrival! When you meet the owners, you understand that it's only natural that this cottage feels so good: they make you feel welcome and will attend to every question or request you might have (except for selling the cottage to us ;o) As if all this weren't enough, there is a splendid pub close by, where they serve excellent food! We hope to be back soon for our fourth time!

Review Submitted: August 31, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We have stayed at the cottage twice this year, once as a couple as a birthday treat and secondly taking a relative to visit the area. On both occasions we found the cottage faultless, very well equipped and exceptionally clean. There is a fantastic village store within walking distance and a great pub for a cosy drink or a meal, the food is amazing! The village is well positioned for visiting the many Cotswold attractions, we would recommend this place to anyone.

Review Submitted: July 28, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
Our family of 5 (consisting of two grandparents, a daughter and two grandchildren---boy 13 and girl 9), stayed at Milestones for one full week in July, 2011 and could not have been more pleased. My very first impression, when the owner greeted us at the door and showed us inside, was "wow, this place is just Perfect!". This is truly a "home away from home". The cottage is cozy, clean, well-equipped and private, with a lovely garden area in the back and ample off-street parking. The beds are very comfortable and the ensuite bathrooms, sporting a jacuzzi tub in one and a spacious shower in the other, produce ample hot water and plenty of pressure...always nice for a family of 5 all trying to get ready at the same time! There is also an extra "loo" with sink downstairs next to the laundry room. Books, games and videos were all provided for those "quiet times" when we weren't exploring the nearby gorgeous hikes or lovely neighboring villages with their welcoming pubs. A quick drive to the numerous small towns in the area made shopping fun and easy. We especially loved the farm store nearby with large selections of fresh fruits, veggies, eggs, pasties, home made ice cream and an endless choice of gifts. Our favorite pub was in neighboring Whichford, with yummy food, great service and huge, friendly roosters and hens visiting the garden tables!
At first our grandchildren were a bit disappointed that there were no bicycles available but the roads are not conducive to bike riding and they decided that the public footpaths were just as exciting, with cows, horses and sheep around every corner! All of the surrounding hikes are extraordinarily beautiful and well worth the occasional huff-and-puff. We had planned to relax in front of the welcoming wood stove in the living room after returning from one of our long sightseeing days, but the weather was too warm to make use of it on this visit.
I have already recommended Milestones to some friends and would give it highest marks to anybody who inquired. This is a gem of a vacation home awaiting some lucky people exploring the Cotswolds. Just writing about it makes me wish I were back there right this minute!
