GREENWICH: Greenwich is a district in south-east London, on the south bank of the River Thames only 15 Miles from Bean.
It is best known for its maritime history. Greenwich maritime connections were celebrated in the 20th century, with the sitting of the Cutty Sark and Gipsy Moth IV next to the river front.
The Meridian passing through the principal Transit Instrument at the Observatory at Greenwich was to be the 'initial meridian'. Giving its name to the Greenwich Meridian and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
