The seaside location makes water sports a main attraction. The village has a renowned sailing centre which offers summer courses to sailors at all levels. Visitors can also enjoy swimming in the harbour or travel a short distance to Ballyrizoid or the beautiful Barley Cove. A little further on from Barley Cove is the Mizen Head, where visitors can enjoy veiws of the Fastnet Rock, the most South-Westerly point in Ireland. Their visitor centre Mizen Vision provdies both an abundance of local historical information and a coffee shop.
