La Roche nestles in the beautiful countryside of the southern Dordogne, between Bergerac and the tranquil medieval bastide of Eymet. The 1-acre garden contains a 12x6m private pool with diving depth. A further 9 acres belongs to the house, and there are fields beyond. The white stone farmhouse dates from about 1860 and has been sympathetically and tastefully restored, retaining many traditional features. Facilities include a hand-crafted limed oak kitchen, hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The modern bathroom has a large corner bath with shower and there is a separate toilet. BBQ, table tennis and children’s swing provided.

Notes: In addition to two people in the bedroom, the 8mx5m lounge has three double sofabeds, which can sleep a further 4 people, perhaps more at a push. The sofabeds are comfortable, we've used them ourselves. Table tennis table also provided (though not for sleeping on)

Travel: Flying: FlyBe fly to Bergerac (just 10 miles away) from various airports around the UK, including Southampton, Manchester, Exeter and Belfast. Ryanair serve Bergerac from Stansted. BA fly to Bordeaux and Toulouse. There are several car hire companies at Bergerac airport. Driving: The drive can be done in a day from Calais, Boulogne or the other ports, or you might have a more leisurely start to your holiday with an overnight stop, perhaps on the Loire - we can give you details of places we've stayed in, if you wish. With the recent construction of the A20, the journey is now very easy and virtually toll-free south of Orleans. We'll include full driving instructions with our booking confirmation letter.

Climate: The area has a temperate climate, and usually enjoys relatively mild winters with long spring and autumn seasons. The summers here can be very hot - ideal for sun lovers

We have stayed at La Roche many times over the last few years and have never been disappointed.As a place to unwind after the pressures of life it is second to none.On arrival it is always clean and welcoming.More than enough pots,pans cutlery etc.all good quality and many little extras that show a thoughtful owner.The pool is great and because it has a good fence around is wonderful for all the family.The surrounding area has many beautiful villages to explore, also shops and supermarket not too far away.Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic House, Peaceful Location, Wonderful Pool

We booked La Roche last minute after our Greek holiday fell through - and we were so glad. What a find! La Roche is in the most tranquil, private location with a fantastic Pool too. We stayed for a week and had the most wonderful holiday ever. So much so, that we are returning again this year for two weeks. It really does have everything - a large safe garden for children, the pool is great (and also safely fenced), the house is delightful, equipped with everything you could need and lovingly restored. As we flew into Bergerac, we were also surprised to find it was such a short drive (25 mins) from the airport too - very convenient. Highly Recommended!

Our holiday in Eymet, near Bergerac was made all the better for our stay at La Roche. The farmhouse was beautifully furnished with comfortable settees and furniture of good quality, the kitchen bright and well equiped with nice crockery and glasses etc. far more than was required. We felt at home straight away. The farmhouse is surrounded by a large garden and open countryside. It was too early in the year to try out the pool but we were lucky with the weather and were able to barbecue. We were travelling with a large but well behaved dog and were very pleased to be able to rent a farmhouse that was nicely done. The area around Eymet has many medieval villages with wonderful architecture, both Eymet and old Bergerac well worth a visit. Eymet market in the village square on thursdays a must. Just on the outskirts of Eymet we found a beautiful lake, as usual in France with paths all the way around. On our daily walks we saw Heron, Cormorants, Coots, Ducks etc., let alone the huge golden Carp jumping out of the water. Overall we had a wonderful holiday, and Tim and Jenny were very pleasant to deal with.
