Monteils holiday house: Monteils near Uzes

Canoeing,Aerial walkways, Beach, Food: The aerial walkway is great fun there are two different ones at 5km in Bagard and 15km at Anduze both are great fun and can accomodate chidren from approximately four years of age. Adults can take advantage of the 'black run' high in the trees which represents quite a challenge. Canoeing from Collias takes you right underneath the historic Pont de Gard along the river Gard and you are picked up after about 7 km and driven back to your car. A stop off for rock jumping into the river is a must. There are cafes at the bridge and you can stop for luch or ice cream. We usually take a picnic. The beaches are at La Grande Motte; 10km of gently sloping beach. The beach cafes offer excellent food and you can rent sunbeds and pedalos. There is municipal parking next to the dunes. St Marie de la Mere and the Camargue National Park are easily reached for a day trip and the scenery is amazing.The is a top class restuarant in the next village. The hypermarket is great fun.

Historic Sites and adventures.: The medieaval towns of Vezenobres and Uzes are close. Uzes and Anduze have wonderfull markets. You can take the steam train from Anduze and visit the Bambousarie on the way. There many museums; Lavander; Haribo (sweets) Bee keeping, Motorbikes. The caves at Trabuc are fantastic and for the bravehearted it is possible to book a guided underground cave safari. Nimes and Arles both have Roman amphitheatres where live concerts are held. There is a theatre in Ales and there are music festivals held in Uzes and Nimes. Wine tasting is a must....the local rose is particularly good and not expensive. For the energetic there is paragliding at Seynes, rafting in the Cevenne and the Ardeche, Go karting in Ales ( Natioanl Circuit-the largest in France. There is a motor rally car circuit approximatly 5km away where National meetings are held. Fishing is avaialble both for fun and for serious fishermen in the local rivers. Hunting is possible in season by arrangement.

Hiking,Bikes, Horse riding,Spa Resort: The Cevennes national Park offer fabulous opportunities for cycling/ Mountain biking, hiking and pony trekking. There are bridle ways and cycle paths close to the house. Bikes can be hired in Ales. There is a fumade or natural spring spa resort in a town closeby where treatments can be booked to promote health and wellbeing. Golf is available at Nimes and Uzes. In the Winter skiiing is possible in the Cevennes at Mount Lozere.
