Choose between a stone cottage or an independent farmhouse unit, Florence 15km

We have renovated the eastwing and barn of our farmhouse to offer visitors a choice of 2 units in which to have a self-catering holiday in Tuscany, just 15km from Florence, at an exceptional price. We are in an ideal position to enjoy both the countryside and visit the sights of Tuscany. The barn is now an independent stone cottage with its own garden, which can sleep up to 5 people. On 2 floors, the sleeping area upstairs has a kingsize double and single bed. The living area on the ground floor has a comfortable double sofa bed, air vent fireplace and dining area. A fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower and washing machine open onto here. The east wing of our farmhouse is also independent with its own entrance, parking space and terrace with pergola. It has 2 bedrooms, kitchen/living with fireplace and bathroom with shower and sleeps up to 5 people. The main bedroom has a king -size double bed and the 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds. We can add an extra bed or travel cot.

The main door of this portion of the barn opens into the living room with a terracotta floor and a stone fireplace with hot air vents . It contains a dining area with a wood country dresser, table and chairs and a sitting area with a very comfortable, new, sofa bed and armchairs, television and coffee table. A small, well-lit, modern kitchen with washing machine, leads off from the living room with its own door leading to the outside and a small private garden for the use of our guests. A complete bathroom with shower , also leads off from the living room. A flight of terracotta and wrought iron stairs lead up to the open-plan sleeping area. Two big windows give a view on the garden outside and the surrounding hills. It contains a walk-in, built-in wardrobe, a big, double bed , 2 bedside tables and lamps, a dressing table and mirror, a single bed and a writing desk and chair. We can supply a cot and/or a child's bed on request.

Gamberaia is just 15 km from Florence and its world famous sights and museums. The shopping is great and varied from market stalls in San Lorenzo to the Gucci stores in Via Tornabuoni. We are in a central position to reach Fiesole, the Chianti area, Siena, San Gimignano, the Muggello, Arezzo and all the charming villages which characterise Tuscany. More shopping can be done in the high fashion outlets at Leccio (30min) and Barberino di Mugello(45min). We are surrounded by woods, fields, vineyards and olive groves for country walking and cycling when you get tired of sightseeing and shopping. You have a choice of several swimming pools within 30 min. distance and there is a riding stable 5 min. down the road and tennis courts in the local village. There is no lack of things to do and see to make your holiday a real Italian experience in a family environment.

An ideal Position!:

La Gamberaia is just 15km from Florence and yet is in the countryside surrounded by hills and fields. It is easy to get to Florence by car, train or even by bus (there is a bus stop jus 5 minutes from us). At the same time, the main tourist attractions of Tuscany are within easy reach; Fiesole, the Mugello, Siena, San Gimignano, Voltrerra, Pisa, Lucca, Arezzo, to mention just some of the main towns which deserve a visit. The countryside around us offers ample opportunity for walks and there are many vineyards to be visited, for those who are interested in wine. We are also close to public swimming pools, tennis courts and a riding school.

A hidden treasure in Tuscany

We would, on behalf of all the family, like to take the time to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Lagamberaia in August this year. The kindness and attention shown by both yourself and your husband Bruno was beyond the call of duty. Of all of our many visits to Italy over the past forty years this year has to be one of the most memorable and it is what we call ‘living Italian’ because geographically it is away from all the touristy superficiality. But although Lagamberaia is tranquil and rustic, it is still near enough to Tuscany’s many centres of culture where we could appreciate the fabulous treasures and the historical buildings as well as dining in the excellent restaurants and trattorias. We couldn’t have asked for more, the best of both worlds with the added bonus of a kind and charming couple as hosts.
 
Thank you for a superb week in Tuscany Irene and Bruno!

a excellent holiday house

In September 2011 we have nine days the stone house "la Gamberaia" hired.
We've got a wonderful holiday.
The house is spacious, clean and fully equipped.
Outside it is quiet and shady.
And most importantly, a warm and loving hostess Irene.
This location is ideal for trips to the famous places of Tuscany.
Florence is best reached by train, we put our car in Sieci (5 km), and continued by train, then you have no parking.
All other places like Sienna, Pisa and Lucca are all approximately 1 hours drive from la Gamberaia.
The town of Fiesole is highly recommended.
Now we are back in Holland, we often say to each other, "what we have in La Gamberaia" a great time"

Our honeymoon

Our honeymoon at Tuscany was wonderful and we couldn't find a better cottage that we found. Cottage is located in a perfect area. In the middle of the hills and not far from Firenze Centre. Cottage is wonderful and well equiped. What was listed on the website is what we found at La Gamberaia. We where treated very well and we where given very good directions from owners who live just nearby. We will for sure re-visit Tuscany and we will choose to stay at the same cottage for sure.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
