Rose Mousse is a beautiful seaside villa, close to Royan. Spend your family holiday near the beach. Relax, enjoy the beach at any time. Walk to the town centre for restaurants/bars (over 20), shops, daily market etc. Our house is ideal for all the family, large and small - even teenage guests have been impressed! Brightly decorated with some 1930's period furniture, but with the family in mind, kid's tv/play room, with games and videos, adult's lounge with fireplace, formal dining room, five bedrooms (2 doubles, 2 singles, one family, cots available), linen and towels available to hire, two bathrooms and two toilets, romantic balcony for a starlit drink, equipped kitchen (dishwasher, freezer, microwave, washing machine etc), breakfast room overlooking the large safe garden walled with lockable gates, patio for bbq's and al fresco eating. Garage/off street parking. The Atlantic coast's sandy beaches are 5 minutes stroll away, as is the town centre for all your self-catering needs.

Rose Mousse is situated at Meschers. Easy walking distance to the seaside and beautiful sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast. Enjoy the beach when you want, swim in the sea, build sandcastles, sunbathing, rock pooling. Near Royan, Meschers' pretty town centre has everything for a self-catering holiday - supermarkets, daily market, boulangeries, banks, shops, numerous restaurants, bars and cafes (over 20 within a 20 minutes walking radius), wine tastings, pleasure port, boat rides, fishing, sailing or take a walk in the pine forests. Leave the car at the house, there is plenty to do on foot or using local buses. A short drive for surfing, horse riding, tree adventure park, vineyard visits and more beaches. The interesting town of Royan is a 10 minute drive (train station). The zoo at La Palmyre, golf and 'la cote savage' (wild coast) are within half an hour's drive. Easy days out to chic La Rochelle, Cognac distilleries Romanesque Saintes, Bordeaux vineyards, Venise Verte or Futurascope

Notes to the rental rates

  • 25 % deposit is required at the time of booking. £70 security deposit is required with the final balance payment, returnable after any breakages/damage within 2 weeks of the end of holiday.
    Linen and towels can be hired at the time of booking: £5.00 per double bed, £4.00 per single bed or cot.
    Set of 3 towels: one hand, one bath, one beach.
    Bookings are Saturday, after 4pm to Saturday, before 10 am unless by prior arrangement.
    Included in rates: Duvets, pillows with cases, tea towels, gas bottles, electricity, heating, logs in winter, final clean.

We spent a week at Rose Mousse, and although the weather was a little mixed it did not prevent us from having a great holiday. The owners are very friendly and provide a lot of helpful information, and we experienced an efficient and problem-free booking process.

The accommodation is very spacious and full of character, and it is decorated well and sympathetically to provide a lovely, relaxed ambience. It really had the desired effect, as we all slowed down to the local pace of life. Thankfully, it is definitely not like rush-hour UK!

The local environment is very pleasant and safe, and perfect for both groups of adults or families with children. The property has a large garden, with plenty of space for children to play, and adults to relax. Off-road car parking is also possible.

It really is an easy stroll to the centre of Meschers and the small harbour, with a selection of small shops, an Hyper U, and a number of good restaurants and bars all close at hand. Try le Foret, it is a little more expensive - but what value for money! ( although certainly not UK prices for this standard) There is a beach just a short stroll from Rose Mousse that is also very good. A few kilometres away at St Georges is a fantastic beach and holiday village- it is worth taking your bucket and spade!

We toured around the region quite a bit, and all destinations such as Cognac, Ile d'Oleron and Blaye were easy to get to. Very little traffic with good, open roads.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, and would certainly recommend it to others.

Yet another great and honest review for Rose Mousse. That week (in April) the weather was not very nice, but luckily there is still plenty to do nearby - if you wish to do very much at all. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants, and also La Foret for a special evening out.
