A Shining Example

Eggers London
Review Submitted: August 5, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Basically for our first trip to Ireland this cottage exceeded our expectations. On arrival the owners greeted us with a welcoming bottle of red and a fresh-baked artisan loaf. And things only got better. The cottage was a delight. Beautifully furnished and comfortable. If the proof of really great accommodation lies in the ability to feel truly relaxed by doing nothing and just admiring the view, then this is just the cottage. Would I recommend it to friends? Naturally. But it was so good, I'd prefer to keep it a secret! A truly memorable holiday.

Home from home!

Muntlix Zwischenwasser, Austria
Review Submitted: September 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We congratulate Gerrie and Malcolm on their tasteful and unique restoration of the lighthouse cottage at Roches Point. Gerrie and Malcolm`s warm welcome, along with homemade bread and a bottle of red wine was only the start of our wonderful 2 week stay this year. The cottage has every mod con you can think of and was the perfect place from which we made many day trips; Blarney Castle, Ring of Kerry, Killarney, Kilkenny, Cobh, Cork, Youghall, Midleton - even a day trip to
Dublin on the train (to be recommended)! Our time in between these trips we spend relaxing on the terrace, drinking tea while watching the tremendous variety of shipping vessels going back and forth into Cork harbour. Gordon and Brenda were perfect neighbours. Gordon was kind enough to show us the lighthouse and tell us about the history of the area. We cannot fault anything!

PIECE OF HEAVEN

Obbi La Crosse, WI USA
Review Submitted: August 1, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This property was the closest to heaven I will be on this earth..There is no way even with the most vivid imagination would you be able to anticipate the breathtaking views. It was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a city but close enough to drive to easily and get a bite to eat or do some shopping. I recently spent a little over a month at this cottage and fell in love with it...and the people that live close by. You immediately felt welcomed by Malcolm and Gerrie and soon get to be fast friends with the neighbors close by ..Gordon and Brenda...I traveled around the country a bit but it was wonderful to be able to drive up to this location and know it was home...at least for a while. The historic significance of the area was amazing...It was truly a sensory overload of beauty ..You see so much of the harbor traffic as you are located right between the Celtic Sea and the Bay of Cork. I almost hated to write this review as I would like to keep it to myself but there is no way this amazing place will be kept a secret. Do yourself a favor..do not miss an opportunity to stay here. This truly was the most amazing vacation I have ever had. I had hoped to come and relax, experience a different way of life, have some new adventures, and meet people I would come to miss when I left. I have far exceeded those goals....Good luck to you all...save some time for me..I will be coming back

BEYOND EXPECTATIONS!!!!!!!!

Jenabeth Buzzards Bay, MA USA
Review Submitted: April 28, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Based on the other reviews on this site and the photos I had very high expectations going into this trip. My sister, brother and I traveling with our Mom as this trip was our Christmas present to her. EVERYTHING exceeded my expectations!! The pictures barely do the views justice - you are never bored as the traffic in and out of the harbuor is always changing and once in a while we were treated to dolphins playing!! The cottage is spacious and beautifully decorated adn so well equiped!! We made dinner most nights at the house as no other restaurant had the same view! The owners were very hospitable and welcomed us with bread & wine and their neighbors were extremely knowledgable and more than willing to show us around the lighthouse property.

We hope to be back soon!!
