Le Roc Bas is a charming traditional oak beamed French farmhouse, lots of character features, ideal for relaxed summer holidays for couples or families.An artists paradise too !Available only during the months of July and August. Set in 2 acres with its own salt water swimming pool and barbecue area.The house is In the style of quiet country elegance.A beautiful veranda spans the frontage and a large south facing decking area overlooks the pool. Situated on the outskirts of the sleepy hamlet of Segalas, the rural countryside offers delightful walks and cycle routes around fields of sunflowers and plum orchards. Activities include-riding stables 2km, leisure lake 20min, carting at Bergerac, canoeing on the Dordogne 45min.Accommodation-sleeps 6-8 plus a travel cot.There are three large double rooms, each sleeping 2+1, and a single room/dressing room. Ideal for three couples or two families. Three shower/bath rooms all with WC, plus fourth WC. Kitchen and utility room are well equipped.

Le Roc Bas is within easy reach of all the interests that the mighty Dordogne river has to offer, magnificent châteaux along its banks, boat trips and canoeing, and not too far away are the famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux. If golf, horse riding or cycling doesn't appeal, then August is festival time! There are medieval banquets and pageants, bodegas (music festivals) and many night markets with lots of fun and culture for everyone. We are also on the doorstep of some of the most famous wine growing regions of France, so a degustation (wine tasting) is a must, along with a good restaurant, and there are plenty to choose from! There are many medieval bastide towns close by, and as each have a market day, it is a great way to shop for all your holiday needs. Lovely local produce and specialities of the region such as foie gras to sample/take home as gifts. The nearest supermarket is 5km but for more comprehensive shopping take a trip to Bergerac, Marmande or Villeneuve.

  • The master suite (30m2 )is located on the ground floor, it is a very elegant large double/family bedroom with a double bed. Dressing room (12m2) which has bunk beds and a washbasin. There is an en suite shower room attached with a washbasin and WC. Bedroom 2 (30m2) is situated on the first floor, a large double/family room with a double bed and a single bed. It is possible to put another single bed or a cot in this room. The room has a rustic charm about it. Air conditioning unit. Bedroom 3 (15m2)is also situated on the first floor, this has twin beds and a further childs bed. Air conditioning unit. An exceptional pretty room with a lot of character. There is a large recreational space between bedrooms 2 and 3 with a book corner and sofa bed/seating area. A child's safety gate can be positioned at the top of the stairs. There is a door to the bottom of the stairs.

Notes: Added entertainment for the children or all the family in the form of an area to play badminton. The house is not quite suitable for the elderly, or for wheelchair access, the site is on a slight incline, therefore there are obvious difficulties. Regarding pets, we love animals, but we feel that for the moment we are unable to consider the requirements of visiting pets. We have a resident cat.

Terms and Conditions: Deposit - a deposit of 25% is required to confirm each booking. The balance must be received six weeks before arrival. Cancellation by guests should be given as soon as possible and will be at the loss of deposits paid. If cancellation occurs after the balance has been received, the full amount will be withheld. It is therefore advisable to take out holiday insurance to cover all eventualities. If we are able to re-book (which we will do our best to do ) we will return all monies except those expended in achieving a replacement booking. If, for unseen reasons, the house has to be withdrawn from rent, the proprietors must reserve the right to cancel and will advise the tenants immediately, if possible offering alternative and equal accommodation. Terms and Conditions Cont'd: A maintenance bond £200 to cover damage and breakage is required on arrival. This will be returned on the day of departure providing the house is clean and no damage or breakages have occurred. Any damages or breakages should be rectified if possible, but in any event the proprietors should be informed before guests leave. Any problems with the property should be reported as soon as possible.

The number of people staying in the property must not exceed the number noted on the contract (booking and confirmation forms) unless prior arrangements with the proprietors.

Period of possession is from 4 p.m on the day of arrival - 10 a.m on the day of departure. Bedding provided includes duvets (not covers) and pillows (not covers). Bed linen is provided for all sized beds and cot. Towels are not provided.

Beautiful house, wonderful owners

We've just returned from our one week holiday at Le Roc Bas and we miss it already!
The house is a beautiful stone building with all the commodities to ensure a brilliant and relaxing stay. It's packed with character and full of charm, and you'll find lovely details everywhere, inside and outside the house.
The swimming pool is just the right size to keep the water at a lovely temperature and ideal for both adults and kids. A lovely seating area, barbecue area, and a massive garden with beautiful tress comprise the outdoor area. The porch with its beautiful wooden beams is spacious and brilliant for relaxing, eating, drinking... We used to spend our evenings there: it's simply perfect for al fresco dining in all weathers, and spacious enough to have the kids happily running around in the event of rain.
There are plenty of things going on in the area to cater for all ages and interests, from markets to bastide towns, castles, vineyards, caves, and activities like canoing, horse riding. Beautiful foods and wonderful wines must of course be pointed out.
The house is simply perfect and you'll feel at home straight away, so it will not disappoint- let me mention that the photos, although great, barely do this beautiful house justice.
But the real bonus of this property is its owners Tim and Jan, whose warmth and kindness will undoubtedly be one of the best memories of your holiday. They're always "on call" and in the same village and will do every possible thing to help you should you need to contact them for whatever the reason.Their attention to detail and love of the area is present in every corner of this house.
I could not praise them enough for their input and for their wonderful nature.
We were a party of 8 people of ages ranging from 2 to 73 years and every single one of us had the most wonderful time.
Can't wait to go back!
