Le Roc Bas is a charming traditional oak beamed French farmhouse, ideal for relaxed summer holidays for couples or for families. Available only through the summer months of July and August. Set in 2 acres with its own salt water swimming pool and shaded barbeque area. In the style of quiet country elegance, a beautiful veranda spans the frontage perfect for outside entertaining from breakfast to supper time. Situated on the outskirts of the sleepy hamlet of Segalas, the rural countryside offers delightful walks and cycle routes through summer fields of sunflowers and plum orchards. Activities include - riding stables 2km, leisure lake 20 min, carting at Bergerac and canoeing on the Dordogne only 45 min. Accommodation - sleeps 6-8 plus a travel cot. There are two large double rooms, each sleeping 2 + 1, one double/twin room, and a single room/dressing room. Ideal for three couples or two families. Three shower rooms all with WC, plus fourth WC. Le Roc Bas is within easy reach of all the interests that the mighty Dordgne river has to offer, magnificent chateaux along its banks, boat trips and canoeing, and not too far away are the famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux. If golf, horse riding or cycling doesn't appeal, then August is festival time! There are medieval banquets and pageants, bodegas (music festivals) and many night markets with lots of fun and culture for everyone. We are also on the doorstep of some of the most famous wine growing regions of France, so a degustation (wine tasting) is a must, along with a good restaurant, and there are plenty to choose from! There are many medieval bastide towns close by, and as each have a market day, it is a great way to shop for all your holiday needs. Lovely local produce and specialities of the region such as foie gras to sample/take home as gifts. The nearest supermarket is 5km but for more comprehensive shopping take a trip to Bergerac, Marmande or Villeneuve.

  • The Master Suite (30m2 )is located on the ground floor, it is a very elegant large double/family bedroom with a double bed. Dressing Room (12m2) which has a single bed and a washbasin. There is an ensuite shower room attached with a washbasin and WC. Bedroom 2 (30m2) is situated on the first floor, a large double/family room with a double bed and a single bed. It is possible to put another single bed or a cot in this room. This room has a rustic charm about it, as this is the converted attic space. Bedroom 3 (15m2)is also situated on the first floor, this is a twin/double. Again a very pretty room with a lot of character. There is a large recreational space between Bedrooms 2 and 3 with a book corner and sofa bed/seating area.

Notes:

The house is not quite suitable for the elderly, or for wheelchair access, the site is on a slight incline, therefore there are obvious difficulties. Regarding pets, we love animals, but we feel that for the moment we are unable to consider the requirements of visiting pets. We have a resident cat.

Car Hire is available from Bordeaux and Bergerac airports, details on application. Bike Hire is available locally and can be delivered and collected to the property when required, details on application. We are happy to recommend, and book restaurants as required. We have a file of information on 'places to see and things to do.' Local and regional maps are also available. The nearest doctor and pharmacie is in Monbahus, just 5 km.

Terms and Conditions

DEPOSIT - A deposit of 25% is required to confirm each booking. The balance must be received six weeks before arrival. Cancellation by guests should be given as soon as possible and will be at the loss of deposits paid. If cancellation occurs after the balance has been received, the full amount will be withheld. It is therefore advisable to take out holiday insurance to cover all eventualities. If we are able to re-book (which we will do our best to do ) we will return all monies except those expended in achieving a replacement booking. If, for unseen reasons, the house has to be withdrawn from rent, the proprietors must reserve the right to cancel and will advise the tenants immediately, if possible offering alternative and equal accommodation. If this is not possible all monies will be returned forthwith. METHOD OF PAYMENT - sterling cheque made payable to: TAM and JK SHAYLER. NO PETS. SMOKING OUTSIDE ONLY.

Terms and Conditions Cont'd

A maintenance bond to cover damage and breakage is required on arrival. This will be returned on the day of departure providing the house is clean and no damage or breakages have occured. Any damages or breakages should be rectified if possible, but in any event the proprietors should be informed before guests leave. Any problems with the property should be reported as soon as possible. The number of people staying in the property must not exceed the number noted on the contract (booking and confirmation forms) unless prior arrangements with the proprietors. Period of possession is from 4 p.m on the day of arrival - 10 a.m on the day of departure. Bedding provided includes duvets (not covers) and pillows (not covers). Bed linen can be provided if required - £10 double, £7 single per week. Towels are not provided. There is restricted disabled access, please discuss before booking. Full terms and conditions will be forwarded along with the booking and confirmation forms.
