Situated above the white village of Capileira at 1700 metres is Cortijo Cañada del Reguero. A 500 year old Cortijo with stunning views. The Cortijo has been lovingly restored over the years and is set in 5000 sq metres of land with a large pool. It provides the perfect location for your mountain holiday. From the door you can wander to the deserted village of Cebidilla or venture to the peak of Mulhucen (the highest peak in Spain). The location is ideal for anybody wanting to explore or simply unwind and relax. Capileira, with its interesting selection of restaurants, bars and shops is a 20 minute walk. The cortijo is a fabulous holiday home for 8 / 10 people or there is a self-contained apartment for up to 5 people. The views are magnificent into the gorgeous Poqora Valley and Sierra Lujar. In the distance is the Mediterranean and on a clear day you can see the mountains of Morocco. In the other direction are the snow peaks of Mulhacen and Veleta, its majestic neighbour, Veleta.

A unique 500 year old farmhouse (cortijo) situated in the mountains of Las Alpujarras is available to rent as a holiday home for 8 / 10 people. There are 4 bedrooms and a second lounge with a sofa bed. The open plan living area is ideal for sharing time together. However if you want a little more privacy, there is also a second kitchen area and seperate lounge. The Cortijo is our Spanish home so has lots of extras that you would not find in a normal rental house. Things such as childrens games, a piano, DVD's and CD's and a kitchen with pots and pans for every occassion including the traditional grand Paella Pan! The lounge is sunny with doors leading to the terrace but for the cooler months there is a large wood burning stove to curl up in front of. The cortijo is not luxurious - it is traditional and comfortable. It is our home and we want to share it with people who will enjoy the charm and delights of being high in the mountains in a house with character that we love!

Located in the Las Alpujarras which is the southern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Andalucia, Spain. Capileira is the highest of 3 white villages, the other two being Bubion and Pampaneira. Just one hours drive to the Historic City of Granada. The Cortijo is situated above the village of Capileira at 1700 metres. You can drive to the village or walk down a track (20 minutes walk). The location is superb for walking, horse riding and cycling. Its a very peaceful and stunning location with amazing views.

  • The cortijo has 2 full bathrooms, one in the self-contained apartment and one in the main cortijo. If the apartment is rented alone, there is no access to the other part of the cortijo.

  • The Cortijo can be rented as a whole house or as a self-contained apartment. The whole house can sleep up to 8 / 10 people and the apartment alone up to 4 / 5 people. Bedroom accommodation is as follows: One double and one twin bedroom in the self contained apartment - sleeps up to 5 people with a sofa bed in the lounge or mattress. One double and one twin bedroom in the main cortijo. There is a sound proofed locking door between the cortijo and the apartment for privacy. All bed linen in pure cotton. Bedrooms have room fans. Towels included including a pool towel in the summer. Sofa bed is in the lounge of the apartment and should not be considered private. Change over day is flexible out of high season.

Guitar Tuition: The Cortijos co-owner, Mike Hynes, is a professional guitarist and would be delighted to offer lessons to guests whilst on holiday. You can borrow a guitar to play on your terrace whilst watching the sun set over the sierras….. Although Mike lives in the Uk, he spends alot of time at the cortijo, so please ask in advance if you would like lessons. Guitars are always available to hire.

The Cortijo and Grounds: Guest have use of the Cortijos large terraced pool (10m x 4.5m and 2 metres deep) and gardens. The pool is open from May until the end of September and is surrounded by the smells of lavender and rosemary. Within the gardens you will find an abundance of fruit trees and if the season is right, you can eat pears, cherries, mulberries, walnuts and apples. Cortijo Cañada del Reguero is situated in one of Spain most beautiful places. It is a superb base for walking, mountain biking, bird watching and horse riding. It is also ideal for total relaxation. Being only one hour from Granada and an hour from the coast, it sits in a magical location with easy access to the world famous Alhambra Palace and the mediterranean sea. Being the home of Lucy, Mike and Patick Hynes, the cortijo is equipped to a very high standard with many things you would not normally expect from a holiday home such as childrens toys, dvd's, music and most of all a cosy comfortable home in a fabulous envirnoment.

Things to do: Guides can easily be arranged for walks, horse rides and mountain biking. There is a Yoga centre close by. Also, if you are interested in painting, Flamenco or pottery, workshops can be arranged for you. Granada is just over one hour away and visits to the famous La Alhambra can be arranged. Numbers are controlled, so advance bookings are recommended. The coast is an hour and a half away and the main town of Orgiva just half an hour away – a great alternative market is worth a visit on a Thursday. Just a little further from Orgiva is the Spa town of Lanjaron with its youth giving waters and famous Spa. Trevelez - the highest village in Spain can be reached from the cortijo on a track with stunning views over the La Taha villages and the Contraviesa mountain range.
