Further details for this holiday house rental in Lee, United Kingdom

The garden and beyond: Terraces of decking, pebbles and lawn stretch across to a dry stone wall and down to a white picket fence bordering the garden. Beyond is the cliff edge making a dramatic setting whether the waves are pounding or the sea is a becalmed 'pool'. It is completely safe within the garden boundaries. There is a wooden walkway down to a lower decking area, where 'bleached' teak tables provide a lovely place to eat or drink. It looks across to the sea cliffs and the Torrs beyond. The decked veranda which runs around the back and side of the house is a great place to lounge and to watch the stunning sunset come down over the sea. It takes 5 mins to get to the local bay and there is a very pretty walk by the stream from the bay back up to the village pub and garden if a pit stop is required before climbing back up the hill! As well as the cliff walks westwards to Bull Point, Morte Hoe and Woolacombe or east to the Torrs and Ilfracombe, there are paths through the wood.

Local Activities: Woolacombe Bay is perfect for those who want to play on a beach. Miles of golden sand and designated one of the cleanest beaches in the EU, it has good facilities for children and surfers. The high cliffs and headlands along this coast are popular with rock climbers. Exmoor National Park with its wild open spaces ,provides great walking, riding or cycling. There are also all the hidden villages with wonderful pubs to drink and eat in, as you explore the Park or bird/wildlife watch. For golfers, there are the famous links courses, Royal North Devon and Saunton Sands, as well as the less demanding local courses and ranges. There is sea fishing from Ilfracombe and some of the finest fly fishing rivers in the country around Barnstaple. The mild climate is great for gardens grand and small from RHS Rosemoor to specialist nurseries. There is information at the house on all these activities.

Other Activities: Trout fishing & sea fishing, rock climbing, sea kayaking, wildlife and bird watching

family summer holiday

the JW Gang Abingdon, Oxon
Review Submitted: August 13, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Daymer Cottage provides a comfortable base for a very relaxing holiday. The accommodation, location and beach hut on Woolacombe Sands exceeded expectations. We were able to enjoy the surfing, walking, cycling, shopping, sight-seeing, rock-pooling, sun-worshipping that the area offers as well as sampling plenty of the local beers and food. As a group of nine people ranging from 11 years of age through 18 to 40+ we can say there is something for everyone!

Daymer Cottage

Mrs Keep London
Review Submitted: May 12, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Daymer Cottage is a beautifully kept home with amazing coastal views. I booked this cottage with 12 friends and there was plenty of room for the lot of us. There are also lots of beautiful cliff walks to go on starting from the property and if you prefer to surf its just a short drive away. There is also a local pub about a 5 minute walk which serves nice cream teas. I would def. recommend this property and will be returning myself.

Review Submitted: April 30, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
What a fantastic house! My family and I have just spent the weekend helping my husband to celebrate his 50th birthday. Plenty of space for everybody and the facilities were great. The house is very spacious and very well appointed. The views are to die for and we were very lucky with the weather. If you get a chance to sample the recommended cooks service then you won't be disappointed. We will defintely be coming back. We couldn't have hoped for more. Even the dogs had a great time.Thankyou.

Family Christmas at Daymer Cottage

Asaz Hertfordshire
Review Submitted: January 4, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
We have just spent a fantastic family Christmas at Daymer Cottage. The house and location lived up to expectations from the internet description and even exceeded it in some repsects. Super, large kitchen from where you can still see the superb views and chat to others in the living area. The house was very cosy and the Christmas tree provided was perfect. We were a party of 11 with ages ranging between 6 months and 65 years and there was plenty of room with everything any of us needed.
Wonderful cliff walks, friendly village pub and views to die for. Road to the village was steep as warned but not as far as I expected. Don't miss visit to Morthoe - paticularly on Boxing Day when the Morris Men put on a display in the village. Ilfracombe was easy to reach for shopping while Woolacombe provided a large, sandy, surfing beach as an alternative to the small local rock pool beaches.
The owners were very helpful in providing any additional information we needed and made sure the house was welcoming for Christmas.
To sum up, the house has the 'wow' factor and we would all love to go back sometime.
