BEACHES & LAKES - The clean and beautiful River Tech has quite a few spots for swimming – or just paddling - there will be trout swimming alongside and is wonderfully convenient! LAKES- ST JEAN PLA DE CORTS – 20 mins - towards Le Boulou, – lovely lake with fish and ducks – landscaped ‘english park’ backdrop with the Pyrenees in the background. Nice and handy for a picnic and a swim – there are pedalos and small snack bar here too! VILLELEAUVE DE LA RAHO – 30 mins – Past Le Boulou follow the signs for Perpignan until you see signs for Villeneuve. Large lake with sand and tourist amenities. BEACHES- Racou , 30 mins - between Collioure and Argeles - sandy with lots of shells and seaweed – close to campsite - usually less busy than the larger beaches Argeles – 30 mins – nice soft sand but usually very busy and touristy-

Trips To The Coast

Collioure: If you do nothing else do not miss this wonderful experience…..if you only spend half an hour walking around the Chateau ramparts…. It does get very busy – especially on Market Days – Wednesday & Sunday – but the views, restaurants and street theatre are truly wonderful The Chateau Royale in the centre of town is well restored an open to visitors for a fee, inside there is an art gallery and a central music stage. Look out for the Sunday and Wednesday morning markets.Take a walk around the village ramparts and a picnic to enjoy in one of the rocky coves nearby – and do try an evening meal in one of the wonderful restaurants recommended above if time allows!Tour Madeloc, up the back of Collioure on the Hill, spectacular views, you can easily drive up here (beware the roads are a bit windy, narrow and high), walk, or even cycle! Wine Tasting: There are a number of Caves in Collioure. Port Vendre: A highlight here is the fish market on extreme north of the bay.
