Further details for this holiday apartment rental in Rome, Italy

Be nice with yourself!: Be nice with yourself, you are in holiday and you deserve it! Make the best out of a self-catering choice! Buy yourself good local food, there's plenty of small shops selling products from the countryside and from the regions around (cheese, ham, salami, etc). There is a daily fresh fruit and vegetable market at 4 minutes walk in via Tripolitania (the Mercato Coperto), where you find also fresh fish on Tuesday and Friday (upper floor)! There are supermarkets in the immediate surroundings, and a chocolate and marron-glacés shop in via Lago Tana. Romoli, one of the best ice-cream and pastry shops in Rome is in viale Eritrea, near piazza Sant'Emerenziana, 10 minutes walk from home, a good way to end your day after dinner! ...or to start it in the morning, of course. Another small very good ice-cream shop is about the same distance, up to Viale Somalia street, in front of the bingo. When you wake up in the morning and look for a real cappuccino, the BAR is just downstairs!

If you come by car: You don't need to have a car because the apartment is very well linked to all sites downtown. However, if you take your car with you and you need parking, a garage is just around the corner and asks for 100 to 200 Euro for the whole month of August, depending on how big the car is. Daily prices are 12 (small cars)/ 15 / 18 (SUV) euro.

Holiday in Rome 2009 Sept.

The apartment was far the best I ve ever had. The equipment of the flat was excellent, and the location as well. Arabella was absolute helpful and gave us plenty of information about the city, moreover she helped to find a driver to the airport very early in the morning. Me and my parents spent a brilliant time in Rome, so I will recommend the flat for all of my friends, who is planning to visit Rome.

We were very satisfied with our staying at La Casa dei Gerani and can highly recommend it. Very friendly reception on arrival. The extensive information about everything conceivable to be found in the apartment was flawless and very helpful. After reading the instructions, we were ready to explore Rome on day one and had an excellent vacation.

We had a great time in Rome. The apartment is like the description, very clean and very well-maintened (everything is ok, the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom...) There are a lot of shops close to the apartment, bars, supermarkets and resturants. Libia and Eritrea streets are full of shops, bars and full of people. You have at leats two buses to get the city centre. We were very comfortable and I would recomend it to a friend. If you have a car, is better to park and to move by buses. The traffic jams in Rome are horribles.

We enjoyed our stay in Arabella's apartment very much. it is in a nice residential area, just over a fruit seller. the apartment is quiet at night, close to trasportation, with many shops and three supermarkets within a 7 or 8 minute walk. the apartment was well set up and very clean. mostly, i want to thank Arabella for being so very helpful and pleasant to deal with. if we ever return to rome (which we hope to do) we would certainly stay there again. i would highly reccomend this apartment!

Not a great experience!

Review Submitted: November 15, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Apartment was too far out of Rome centre....took at least 1/2 to drive back each evening. Parking very limited and had to drive around for ages before being able to park and then it was a trek back to the apartment with a baby. Area generally is dirty and untidy and graffiti is everywhere.
Apartment was reasonable although decor left a lot to be desired and was dusty as no one had rented it for months. Couldnt get tv to work or water heater, although owner did talk us through getting boiler going again but this was towards the end of the week. Also cant use cooker and washer at same time or electrics blow! Wont be going back and wouldnt recommend to anyone either. Have had much better apartments for much less but took this as a last minute option. Never again.
Owner's Response: I am aware this is a long answer but I owe it to new guests.
Mrs M. must have been really angry, to write this review 4 months after her stay in Rome. I don't think it has been a good idea for her to take the car.It would have driven anyone mad. Rome is known for its terrible traffic jams.It is unwise to think you'll find where to park your car.Bus stops are 2 min walk from home and buses may go through priority ways where private cars are not allowed to go. You reach any place by means of public transport from there, saving time and money (parking fees till 11p.m.). The neighbourhood is a quiet, family living and shopping place, and doesn't look disquieting at all.All the guests have been happy about the location.
The cleaning lady is there to hand the keys at the arrival, and guests are informed she is in charge of the cleaning. If they find the house hasn't been cleaned properly, they can tell her. They also have her portable phone number, as well as mine, for anything they may need to ask later. They actually had problems with hot water,as pressure in the boiler had dropped and a small handle had to be turned to make it rise again. Instructions mustn't have been followed properly. In the meantime we have left the full instructions book concerning the boiler,in its multilingual text,in case of need. We would of course have sent a technician, had we known before the last day that the problem still existed. I agree that staying in a house without hot water, especially with a baby, is not acceptable. But this is precisely the reason why I supposed the problem had been solved.
TV hadn't got the international channels because we were not aware the satellite tv cables on the roof had been damaged, and only national TV was available during their stay.
As for the electric power,3kw is the normal power capacity a medium-sized apartment is allowed in Italy. It's obvious (and warned in the information sheet in the apt) that if you switch on heavy electric apparatus for more than 3 KW/hr, like washing machine and dish-washer at the same time, the counter sets off. I don't need to say anything about the decor, the pictures are there to speak, as well as the words of other guests.
I'm sorry Mrs Michelle hasn't brought back a good memory about her stay at La Casa dei Gerani, as all the other guests have. On our part, the problems concentrated during her stay made us be more precise in anticipating all possible needs of information and instructions our guests may have.
