A delightful traditional mid 19th century Farmhouse in Picardy

The farmhouse is situated at the edge of a quiet rural village and looks out onto the former battlefields of Crecy. It is set within its own private grounds which are beautifully maintained & cared for. The property, which is made from local stone, is a single storey longere, with 4 bedrooms, a shower room, a bathroom, 2 reception rooms, a large kitchen (fridge/freezer/Range cooker/microwave) & children's playroom. There is also a washing machine. The dining table seats up to 10 people. A table football is available and in the garden is a swing and trapeze. There is a 27 inch flat screen TV with a CD/DVD player & a large selection of books and games to enjoy. There are several patio areas & garden furniture is available to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Everyday the bread van comes around 11am and toots their horn, providing fresh baguettes and croissants. Twice a week the local butcher comes with excellent quality meat and other local produce. Nearest supermarket is 3 min by car.

The house is one hours drive from the Eurotunnel and just 10min from junction 24 on the A16. It is situated in Estree Les Crecy, which is on the outskirts of the village of Crecy en Ponthieu. Crecy en Ponthieu has several excellent shops, including a well stocked supermarket, 2 bakeries, a cafe and an excellent butchers with lots of local produce. There are many local attractions to visit, including the battlefields of Crecy 1346 or the Somme 1916. The enormous forest of Crecy is only a few minutes drive away and is full of fantastic trails (bike or walk). The wonderful coastal towns of Le Crotoy and Saint Valerie sur Somme are only 20min away, where you can enjoy seafood that is so fresh you can see it being landed from the fishing boats in the harbour. There are many great markets and restaurants including several with Michelin stars! There is fabulous steam train journey around the bay of the Somme and boat trips. Horse riding, great cycling, golf and sand sailing are within 30min.

Notes to the rental rates

  • Weeks will usually start Saturday to Saturday arriving after 4pm and departing before 10am, but please discuss this with the owner as there may be some flexibility. Electricity/Gas will be charged at £30 per week in 2008 and £55 per week during the winter period of Oct 2008-May 2009,£35 June-Sept 09. This is payable in advance. A refundable deposit for breakages of £150 needs to be sent by cheque in advance. The property should be left as found or cleaning charges will apply ( deductible from deposit).Duvets and rectangular pillows are supplied. A travel cot and high chair are available. There are no stairs in the property. 30% non-refundable deposit payable at time of booking to secure the booking and balance payable six weeks before departure to include elect/gas charges and £150 for breakages refundable at end of stay.
