The accomodation is within a small group of nine properties named Baia di Nelson in Punta Sardegna, whici boasts a security watch and first aid cum medical assistance for tourists. It is surrounded by a large condominial garden with tennis court. The pleasant and safe beach, 5 minutes walk away, overlooks the island of La Maddalena beyond whic is Caprera, where Garibaldi, famous Risorgimento hero, lived and died. The surrounding landscape is typically mediterrenean with its perfumed myrtle and granite rocks hewn by the wind into suggestive shapes. 10 minutes walk takes you to Porto Rafael with its 'piazzetta', its bars, boutiques, newagent and food and utility store. Continuing the walk one comes across two delightful beaches, a small haven 'The Yachting Club' with its anchores boats, where you can hire boats and do scuba diving. To the north of Punta Sardegna there is a military observatory,open to the public, where you can enjoy an extensive views of the archipelago.
The environment:
You can reach by car Porto Pollo, surfer's paradise and Santa Teresa from where leave ferries to Corsica. 10 mintes drive (4 Km.) takes you to the port town of Palau with its supermarkets, travel agents, banks, pharmacy and many shops including typical island products and jewellery. From here you can take boat trips to the various archipelago islands and cross over to La maddalena and Caprera. Half an hour drive to the south takes you to the world famous Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo in the millionaires' paradise of Costa Smeralda.
