Getting to Slovenia:
EasyJet fly to Ljubljana daily from Stansted.
Adria (Slovenia's airline) fly to Ljubljana daily from Gatwick, and less frequently from Manchester, Birmingham and Dublin.
Ryanair now fly from Stansted to Maribor (Slovenia's second city) just 78 miles on a new toll-motorway from the capital.
Other options, involving a couple of hours driving with a border crossings, include:
Ryanair: Stansted to Trieste, Italy, just 40 miles to Most na Soci where you can put the car on the train and travel very cheaply up the
Valley and under the mountain coming out just 1 km from the apartment - a trip well worth doing - but check train times first!
Ryanair: Stansted to Klagenfurt, Austria, 65 miles including a trip under the Karavanke mountains.
Border crossings in hire-cars should be pre-notified and may incur surcharges.
Directions from Ljubljana Airport:
Turn left out of the airport following signs for Kranj. Take Green-Signposted Motorway turning for Jesenice
Stay on motorway until Junction 3 for Lesce, also signposted for Bled. At Bled the main road runs downhill to the lake and round to the left.
Follow signs for for Bohinj or Boh. Bistrica - 20 minutes along this gorge. As you come into Bistrica the road runs a priority right turn at the crossroads but you need to turn left following signs for Tolmin and Skofa Lokje. Follow this road past the Pension Tripic on the right and the Aqua-Park on the left. Keep going following the road around to the left at Kobla Ski and round to the right near the Lip Bled woodyard. Our Apartment is in the first block on the new development on the right in 200m as the town runs out onto the mountain.
