Fantastic four bedroomed house set in Nature Reserve

A magical property dating back to the 17th century. A secluded house set in the middle of the Devon and Cornwall Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve this house is perfect for those seeking a truly peaceful, tranquil and traffic free setting in which to holiday. The house has two large double rooms, one en suite, one twin room and a single room providing spacious bedrooms for up to seven. The cosy sitting room with Inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove lends itself to sitting quietly and relaxing. The kitchen is equipped with a Rayburn; the dining area has an antique cherry dining table with seating for seven and there is a separate sitting room with piano and sofa. All beautifully furnished with genuine antique furniture the owners have taken great care and attention to ensure this fabulous house is decorated and equipped to the highest standards. With original oak beams throughout and flagstones floors many of the original features of the house remain.

Gooseham Mill House is located on the Cornwall/Devon border in a beautiful wooded valley just a mile from the sea in the middle of the Marsland Nature Reserve, which is well known for its flora and fauna and offers fantastic walking opportunities. There are woodland and coastal walks direct from the front door and the renowned beach at Welcombe Mouth is a mile walk. Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock, Cotehele are within an easy drive as are the towns of Bideford and Bude. Appledore Arts Festival takes place every year and there is fantastic wildlife to be found on the doorstep. This is an ideal base for exploring the National Trust Coastline, SW Coast Path and perfect for swimming, surfing, riding, visiting gardens and is rich in Arts & Crafts related activities. Close to the historic fishing villages of Clovelly and Hartland and the sea ports of Bude and Bideford

Children's Bothy: There is a lovely little bothy with bean bags. board games and DVD player which is perfect for slightly older children and teenagers to have their own space. Within a few yards of the main house this is a wonderful bolt hole for children and gives mum and dad even more peace and tranquillity in the house!

The Garden: Gooseham Mill House is located on the Cornwall/Devon border in a beautiful wooded valley just a mile from the sea in the middle of the Marsland Nature Reserve, which is well known for its flora and fauna. With the gentle stream meandering through the garden, start in Cornwall and walk over the bridge to be in Devon. Stroll along winding footpaths for a mile and you will find the secluded beaches of Marsland Mouth and Welcombe on the Atlantic Heritage Coast.

Golf:

Hartland Forest Golf Club

The picturesque par 72 golf course of 6,158 yards with extensive water hazards offers good sport for golfers of every skill level including beginners. The course is gently sloping - no hills.

No handicap certificate is required.

There is no requirement to book tee times, except for Golf Societies. Societies are very welcome.

Golf clubs, trolleys and buggies are available for hire.

Hartland Forest has a golf shop (but no teaching professional), changing rooms and a licensed bar. Please see facilities under golf tariff and information.

The course opens at 8:30 AM.

Our own little piece of paradise for a week

This is our third year of booking our holiday with Nick at Elite West Holidays and yet again we were not disappointed. The service as always was impeccable which is why we keep going back again and again and Gooseham Mill really did feel like our own little piece of paradise. The house is just beautiful with all the mod cons you could wish for but it still retains it's wonderful character and is set in the most idyllic surroundings. The house was lovely and clean and the grounds were incredibly well maintained. We would highly recommend this wonderful property for those wishing like us to completely get away from the hustle and bustle of life and take stock in a tranquil and beautifully interesting setting.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Beautiful characterful house in wonderful location

We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic week in this beautiful house in a stunning location. The house itself is lovingly furnished and has everything that the holidaymaker would want and plenty of space for us (5 adults). The gardens are a joy, large and full of lots of interesting artifacts and hidden vistas. We particularly enjoyed cooking on the range using fresh vegetables from the garden and where else would you be able to say that you walked down the garden to collect your vegetables in Devon and then walked back and ate them in Cornwall! It was a great location from which to visit both Cornwall and Devon.
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Booking was seemless, quality of property surpassed all expectations, relaxation achieved! Over the years we have used a variety of holiday companies & without a doubt, Nick at Elite West is the forerunner - a superb combination of quality, unique accomadation matched with unrivaled professionalism. Gooseham Mill House is a beautiful place filled with old world charm, all the modern conveniences and surrounded by spectacular scenery. I plan to return again very soon.
