Pretty cottage in High Auvergne village
Over 2,600 feet up, in the middle of Europe's largest National Park, Catherine's house is a jewel ideally placed for exploring this beautiful, yet little known, part of France. Enjoy museums, Romanesque churches, street markets, medieval towns, waterfalls, lakes, swimming pools, magical walking, birds and wild flowers from the comfort of this well equipped, spotless cottage for two. Full central heating. Renovation just completed, but in the same family for several generations. St Saturnin has a shop and simple restaurant. Other shops and good restaurants an easy drive. Comprehensive information in English so you enjoy this wonderful area to the full.

Unspoiled mountains and forests dotted with wild flower meadows, valleys deep with daffodils and scented narcissus, pastures awash with soft colour, the sound of streams and cow bells. The Massif Central is little known yet an easy drive from the Channel. High Auvergne has chateaux, museums, mountain bikes, Romanesque churches, street markets, medieval towns, waterfalls, lakes, swimming pools and magical walking; skiing in winter, a summer bob luge (cable cars run to 5,800 ft on the Massif du Sancy. Exceptional birds and flowers. Cantal's mountain pastures produce more appellation cheeses than any other French department.
