La Rade is a small, exclusive residence within walking distance of the village. The luxurious two-bedroom en suite apartment is located on the third (top) floor of the residence. The apartment is triple-aspect, sharing only one wall with another apartment. The entrance hallway opens onto an open-plan living room dining room and sliding doors onto the terrace with fantastic views of the bay and Cap Ferrat. The separate kitchen is modern and fully equipped with a door opening onto the beautiful garden. Both bedrooms are ensuite and have fitted wardrobes and sliding doors. There is a large mature private garden planted with lavender, palms and olive trees which both the kitchen and 2nd bedroom open onto. Accessed via a staircase, is a breathtaking, spacious roof terrace with 360o panoramic views of the bay and mountains. The apartment is fully air-conditioned, has Wi-Fi internet, Satellite TV, and a private garage. There is a shared swimming pool in the complex.

Additional information about rental rates

  • EARLY BOOKING DISCOUNT : 5% (6 months in advance); LONG STAY BOOKING DISCOUNT : 10% (more than 14 nights)

    A deposit of 25% is required on making the booking, the balance to be paid one month before arrival. On receipt of the deposit the renter will get a rental agreement. On receipt of the balance directions to the apartment and contact details for meeting the apartment manager will be forwarded. The manager will have the keys and show the renter around the apartment.
    The rental rate includes bed linen, towels, internet and electricity. Cleaning and laundry on leaving the apartment is complimentary.

    There is security payment of €500 which is payable to the apartment manager on collection of the keys. The security deposit will be refunded on return of the keys subject to no damage to the property, the fixtures or fittings. If convenient, the deposit can be held in any of the major currencies.
  • Changeover is normally Saturday to Saturday. As change over is tight in the high season, access to the apartment will be 3pm or later on arrival, and departure will be before 10am. Late arrivals, after 18.00 incur a Eur 50.00 late arrival fee if we are not advised when booking. We will be as flexible as possible for early and late check-ins when notified.

    The airport is approximately a 20 minute taxi ride to Villefranche.

Wheelchair access and for the elderly or infirm access is difficult as there are 5 steps to negotiate to get to the lift and garage. Villefranche and the surrounding villages: Villefranche is perfectly located to have a relaxing or sporty holiday. The lovely medieval village with its colourful architecture is just a 10 minute stroll along the walls of the citadelle. In the village there is a choice of restaurants, shops and bars. On Saturday and Sunday there is the local market. Walk to the end of the seafront road and there is a lovely, long safe beach, ideal for kids. There is also the 'Lounge Bar' where you can have lunch with your toes in the sand or rent a sunbed for the day. Further around the bay is the Cap Ferrat. Worth visiting is the beautiful Villa Ephussi and for the kids - the zoo. In the next bay is Beaulieu, with a range of beaches, casinos and water sports facilities. Further around the coast is Eze with its magnificent citadelle, perfume factories and the notable restaurant Chevre d'Or. There is also the National Park in Eze with amazing views across Cap Ferrat to the Cap d'Antibes and the peaks of the southern Alps.

Shopping: For shopping, 10 minutes drive away, is Nice with a great variety from the better know exclusive brands of Louis Vitton, Hermes and Christian Dior to the large shopping centre - Nice Etoile. Monaco, 15 mins drive away, also has a very good selection of shops. For food shopping, there are the small supermarkets in Villefranche. For a larger shop there is the supermarket Champion, a 5 minute drive /bus trip away on the Cap de Nice. They will deliver groceries to the apartment.

Learn French: If you are interested in learning French, then go to the highly recommended Institute de Francais located in Villefranche, a 10 minute walk away from the apartment.

La Rade was beautifully layed out with large french windows leading the living room onto the balcony with an absolutely stunning panoramic view over the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat.

The apartment was immaculately clean throughout and well located for Villefranche bars, restaurants, patisseries and local stores.

Would definitely recommend!

We are a family with two girls aged 8 & 12. We stayed in this beautiful appartment for 9 days this summer (2009). The appartment is very well located, has a wonderful amount of space including a great balcony, terrace and garden. The appartment decor is new, fresh, well organized, and extremely comfortable. Wendy (the owner) lives in the building and is available any time for help. We really have nothing but praise for this place and loved the easy access to this most beautiful part of the French Riviera!! Steve and Nina, Toronto, Canada

We had a wonderful time staying in Villefranche. The apartment was beautiful, had a gorgeous view and was in a great location. We enjoyed staying here, rather than in the more touristy area of Nice, but it is still convenient to all the public transport in the area. Wendy and Molly were very helpful also. Thanks for a lovely time!

SPECTACULAR

My family and I spent one week in July 2008 at the apartment in La Rade. The accomodation was excellently placed with the most amazing view I have ever had from any holiday rental. It really was breathtaking and a pleasure to wake up to every morning. The apartment sits halfway down the hill between the little village of Villefranche Sur Mer and the seafront where there are lots of seafront restaurants and a lovely beach. This is where you will find the train station which goes right along the coast where you can explore many of the other resorts such as Cannes, Nice, Monaco and even travel right into Italy. We visited San Remo in Italy and found it to be a beautiful place with many historical aspects. Most of the time however we travelled into Nice or Monaco by bus, which can be found just a short but steep journey at the top of the hill. The bus route is subsidised and therefore costs only 1 euro p/p for any destination between Nice and Menton which is just past Monaco. Beware though, as it is so cheap it is very popular and we rarely mangaged to get a seat, with standing room only and a bit of a scuffle to get on. The local bakery and pizza takeaway are good and there is a little grocery shop (Casino) which has a most products. The apartment is well equiped and really is a home from home. There are so many areas to sit out, like the rooftop terrace, the back garden with dining table but it is hard to resist the balcony when the view is so outstanding. A nice touch when we arrived was fa vase of fresh lillies with a beautiful fragrance but I was disappointed that as our flight determined that we arrived at the apartment about 9pm, there was a 50 euro surcharge for the agent coming out to meet us. This was unexpected and I was a little annoyed that I had to pay this to two people who met me there. Would one not have been enough? This was even more suprising since we later saw them socialising in a downstairs apartment. This was my only gripe with the whole experience and was later redeemed by Molly (the caretaker of the apartment) being so helpful on the day of our departure, letting us store our luggage and have use of the pool until later in the day. On the whole, a great holiday.
