Thermalp - Thermal spa centre:
Truly unique - In winter with your lift pass you can choose to include entry to the thermal spa and pools. At the end of an energetic day on the slopes, lie back and relax in one of the three naturally heated pools, indoor and out, enjoying the stunning views of the snow clad mountains. A memorable experience. Kids will love the outdoor pools with their Jacuzzis whirlpools and water jets, all heated to about 34C. The centre also offers a fitness centre, sauna and a great range of health and beauty treatments. Unlike some spa resorts, Ovronnaz attracts a young and family clientele and no, the water's not smelly! The thermal centre is open all year round which means the village always has a warm and hospitable atmosphere whatever the time of year.
Summer:
In summer the hiking opportunities are fantastic, whether you prefer a walk through green and flowered alpine meadows to a restaurant for lunch or a longer trek in the dramatic scenery of the high mountains, there are over 150 km of marked footpaths. Mountain bikers will love the 50km of trails through the stunning scenery. Paragliders will find themselves in an ideal area to fly with views of the mountains and Rhone valley. Access to the high mountains is easy with the chair lift open in summer from June to October. Just below the village, don't forget to have a relaxing moment tasting the delicious local wines from the picturesque vineyards (another well-kept secret). Further afield, children will love the thrill of the 'flying fox' rides of the real mountain adventure playgrounds in nearby resorts. For those who prefer not to visit in the height of summer, the fiery colours of the trees in autumn are unforgettable and the weather can be just as glorious.
Skiing and Snow sports:
Ovronnaz has 2 ski schools in the village centre offering ski and snowboard lessons. There are also 2 ski hire shops located with the ski schools. In the village centre, overlooked by cafes for the non-skiers, is a beginners' slope with its own tow. The next step is the chair lift and the higher slopes. The main mountain restaurant is just at the top of the main chair lift and easily accessible for skiers and non-skiers. For those who prefer more tranquil pursuits through beautiful forest scenery, cross-country skiers are well catered for with trails accessible from our chalet as are winter rambling trails. There are also snow shoe trails from the main chair lift.
Ski:
Renowned for its unique microclimate, sparkling, sunny days with an abundance of snow the resort of Ovronnaz has ski uplift rising from 1350 metres to 2500 metres. The runs are 30% beginner, 50% intermediate and 20% expert. The three cross country 'loops' total 25km and there are 20 km of marked footpaths and a 12 km snowshoe trail. All for a fraction of the cost of some better known ski resorts and you can include entry to the thermal baths in your lift pass!
