Well appointed self-catering gites and separate studio apartment overlooking the Pyrenees and spa town. Ideally located for all outdoor pursuits including skiing, walking, cycling, hiking, canoeing, golfing and fishing in stunning scenery. Close to Lourdes sanctuary, Garvanie and the Pic du Midi observatory. The holiday accommodation is ideal for all year round rentals for those wanting a ski holiday close to a bustling town with fantastic thermal spa baths to relax in. La Mongie ski resort is the largest in the French Pyrenees reached by buses from town. The Tour de France passes through this region and there are local races for the amateur cyclist. The Pyrenean National Park is on our doorstep with many trails to follow on foot or mountain bike including the pilgrims route St Jacques de Compostelle with the GR10 a little further afield. The studio is recently equipped with its own entrance and balcony, the newly renovated gites have private terraces and all have parking.

Independent newly equipped studio apartment with lovely views overlooking the spa town and the Pyrenees with a balcony. There is a separate kitchen/diner fully equipped with fridge/freezer, hotplate, combination microwave/oven/grill, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. The comfortable centrally heated living area is fitted with a sofa bed, a double bed, ample storage in the wardrobe and drawer unit, WIFI, TV/DVD and CD player. Books and games are provided and DVDs can be borrowed on request. There is garden furniture for the balcony and more seating in the garden near the BBQ. Allocated parking space and storage for sports equipment eg bikes or skis. All linen and towels are included in the rental price, there is an optional charge of 30 euros for cleaning at the end of the rental period. The studio is suitable for couples with one child. No smoking inside the studio or pets allowed. Cot and highchair can be provided. Longer term rentals of up to 6 months considered.

The cottage, grange and studio apartment are set in the delightful town of Bagneres de Bigorre. A bustling spa town in the Haute-Pyrenees ideally placed for skiing at La Mongie and Payolle, visiting the Pyrenean National Park, Cirque du Gavarnie and Pic du Midi. We are close to the sanctuary at Lourdes and easy drive of Pau and Toulouse. Visit Biarritz, Carcassone and Spain for days further afield. Watch the Tour de France which passes near by each year or cycle the cols yourself. There are many walks close by including the GR10 and the route of St Jacques de Compostelle passing close to our property. For golfers there is a 18 hole golf course with panoramic views of the Pyrenees is 2 km away with another 2 golf courses within easy reach. Other activities include canoeing, parapente, horse riding, mountain biking. If you prefer to relax there are the wonderful thermal spa baths in town and many good restaurants to try the wonderful regional dishes. Flights to Lourdes for the ski season

Additional information about rental rates

  • Electricity is charged at 0.15 euros per kWh. A security deposit of 100 euros is to be paid on arrival and will be returned within a week of departure. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge. A charge of 20 euros per hour will be made for cleaning at the end of the rental period if necessary.
    Booking deposit of 100 euros non refundable can be paid in sterling calculated at the rate of exchange on the date of payment. Payment in full 8 weeks before rental period. Changeover day may be flexible out of high season.
  • Breakfast is available on request at 7 euros per person
    Please note that the weekly rental rates from 28 August 2009 are based on 2 person occupancy and there is a supplement of 20€ for each additional person up to the total of 3.

Ski holidays: La Mongie & Bareges, the largest ski resort in the French Pyrenees is 25 minutes away & suits all abilities whilst the more adventurous can ski off-piste from Pic du Midi. Some pistes run through beautiful forests whilst others have spectacular views of the Pyrenees. With 2 ski schools and most pistes easily accessed by chair lifts or teleski, it is a family orientated resort with ample restaurants and bars. The access road is good but snow chains or 4x4 are needed after heavy snowfall. A daily bus from Bagneres takes you to the resort & is free during French school holidays. Other ski resorts are within easy reach by car. Ski hire is available locally and we can store ski equipment. Why not try cross-country skiing or snow walking in the beautiful area of Payolle where you will find numerous tracks in pretty forests. This area is also great for watching the kids sledge from a warm bar. Also try dog sled rides or motoneige rides. Saturday flights from Stanstead to Lourdes in winter.

Golf holidays: The golf course at Bagneres de Bigorre has spectacular views of the Pyrenees and is 2 km from our property. The 18 hole course is open all year and was designed by Olivier Brizon in 1991. Hiring of all golf equipment is available and golf lessons can be booked. Fees start at 30 euros for 18 holes. Also nearby are 18 hole golf courses at Tarbes and Lanemazan making Bagneres the ideal location to play at all 3 courses.

Studio apartment -Perfect Mountain Getaway for two

The studio apartment was lovely and bright with everything we needed for our week hiking in the pyrenees. It was very clean and obviously well looked after, and very spacious for 2/3 people. The kitchen was well equipped and the view from the windows is amazing!

Mike and Megan were lovely and very accomodating and went above and beyond to offer advice on things to do in the area.

The town itself is very nice with some lovely local walks and nice places to eat. It is about 10 mins walk into the main centre and about 5 to the nearest supermarket for supplies.

The location for acess to other areas of the pyrenees is also good and it's close to Lourdes and Pau if you want a bigger town. We did have a car so I can't comment on public transport access but there did seem to be plenty of buses around!

We had a really really amazing week and would highly reccomend the apartment and Bagnares .

Cycling holiday

On arriving at our appartment we were very happy with the accomodation. Very open and spacious and set in its own mature gardens. The appartment had everything to hand and very comfortable, although some evenings were quite cool. Electric heaters were available but not wanting to run up a large electric bill so avoided using them. There was a large shed which could be used in the garden for storing large equipment ie, bikes etc. Overall a very clean roomy appartment with friendly helpfull proprietors. I would recommend a car is needed to travel around to see the sights. A very pleasant stay.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and for your kind remarks. I would agree that unless you are a very good cyclist it is best to have a car to make the most of the area. We have now fitted woodburning fires in the Grange and the Cottage for the comfort of our guests. All the properties have electricity meters accessible to guests so electric consumption can be monitored to help avoid large bills which are a rarity even in snowy weather. The studio has gas central heating but can be supplemented by an electric heater.

My husband and I had a wonderful time when we stayed in the apartment. Very clean and comfortable and within walking distance of the town centre. Fantastic views of the mountains from the lounge and kitchen windows. Owners were very friendly and hospitable. Will definitely go again. Highly recommended.

Très beau studio propre et moderne pour deux personnes au pied du Col des Palomières à Bagnères-de-Bigorre à quelques minutes à pied du centre-ville.
Accueil et disponibilité chaleureuses des proprios.
À proximité de toutes les activités extérieures et intérieures.
Nous avons été ravi de notre séjour à l'exception des prévisions météo plutôt capricieusement humides.

Very nice studio, clean and modern for two people at the bottom of Col des Palomières at Bagnères-de-Bigorre a few minutes by foot to the downtown area.
Cordial presence and greeting from the owners.
Close to the outdoor and indoor activities.
We enjoyed our stay a lot except for the rather humid weather forecasts.
