Well appointed self-catering gites and separate studio apartment overlooking the Pyrenees and spa town. Ideally located for all outdoor pursuits including skiing, walking, cycling, hiking, canoeing, golfing and fishing in stunning scenery. Close to Lourdes sanctuary, Garvanie and the Pic du Midi observatory. The holiday accommodation is ideal for all year round rentals for those wanting a ski holiday close to a bustling town with fantastic thermal spa baths to relax in. La Mongie ski resort is the largest in the French Pyrenees reached by buses from town. The Tour de France passes through this region and there are local races for the amateur cyclist. The Pyrenean National Park is on our doorstep with many trails to follow on foot or mountain bike including the pilgrims route St Jacques de Compostelle with the GR10 a little further afield. The studio is recently equipped with its own entrance and balcony, the newly renovated gites have private terraces and all have parking.

Newly converted cottage separate to main house with private terrace and parking. This comfortable cottage sleeps 6 people and comprises of a pretty double bedroom upstairs with French doors opening to a balustrade, a double bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with walk in shower. Downstairs there is a bright open plan living area with a well fitted kitchen and dining area. A double sofa bed sleeps 2 and there is also a downstairs toilet and washbasin. The lounge area includes a woodburning fire for cosy winter evenings, a large TV, Satellite, DVD, CD player, games and books, WIFI, DVDs can be borrowed from the owners. The kitchen includes an American style fridge/freezer with ice and drinks dispenser, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, oven and gas hob. The wooden decked terrace has views of the town of Bagneres and woods and has garden furniture for 6 people and a BBQ. Highchair and cot can be provided at no extra cost. Safe storage of sports equipment.

The cottage, grange and studio apartment are set in the delightful town of Bagneres de Bigorre. A bustling spa town in the Haute-Pyrenees ideally placed for skiing at La Mongie and Payolle, visiting the Pyrenean National Park, Cirque du Gavarnie and Pic du Midi. We are close to the sanctuary at Lourdes and easy drive of Pau and Toulouse. Visit Biarritz, Carcassone and Spain for days further afield. Watch the Tour de France which passes near by each year or cycle the cols yourself. There are many walks close by including the GR10 and the route of St Jacques de Compostelle passing close to our property. For golfers there is a 18 hole golf course with panoramic views of the Pyrenees is 2 km away with another 2 golf courses within easy reach. Other activities include canoeing, parapente, horse riding, mountain biking. If you prefer to relax there are the wonderful thermal spa baths in town and many good restaurants to try the wonderful regional dishes. Flights to Lourdes for the ski season

Additional information about rental rates

  • Security deposit of 150 euros payable on arrival and returned within 7 days of departure. Electricity and taxe de sejour is deducted from the security deposit.
    Booking deposit of 30% of rental price non refundable can be paid in sterling calculated at the rate of exchange on the date of payment. Payment in full 8 weeks before rental period. Changeover day may be flexible out of high season.
    Electricity is charged at 0.15 euros per kWh. Bed linen and towels are provided free of charge. A charge of 20 euros per hour will be made for cleaning at the end of the rental period if necessary.
  • Breakfast is available on request at 7 euros per person
    Please note that the weekly rental rates from 28 August 2009 are based on 2 person occupancy and there is a supplement of 20€ for each additional person up to the total of 6. This supplement does not apply for the periods 19 December 2009 - 2 January 2010, 6 February - 5 March 2010 or 3/07/10 - 27/08/10 where the price is inclusive of extra people up to a maximum of 6.

Ski holidays: La Mongie & Bareges, the largest ski resort in the French Pyrenees is 25 minutes away & suits all abilities whilst the more adventurous can ski off-piste from Pic du Midi. Some pistes run through beautiful forests whilst others have spectacular views of the Pyrenees. With 2 ski schools and most pistes easily accessed by chair lifts or teleski, it is a family orientated resort with ample restaurants and bars. The access road is good but snow chains or 4x4 are needed after heavy snowfall. A daily bus from Bagneres takes you to the resort & is free during French school holidays. Other ski resorts are within easy reach by car. Ski hire is available locally and we can store ski equipment. Why not try cross-country skiing or snow walking in the beautiful area of Payolle where you will find numerous tracks in pretty forests. This area is also great for watching the kids sledge from a warm bar. Also try dog sled rides or motoneige rides. Saturday flights from Stanstead to Lourdes in winter.

Golf holidays: The golf course at Bagneres de Bigorre has spectacular views of the Pyrenees and is 2 km from our property. The 18 hole course is open all year and was designed by Olivier Brizon in 1991. Hiring of all golf equipment is available and golf lessons can be booked. Fees start at 30 euros for 18 holes. Also nearby are 18 hole golf courses at Tarbes and Lanemazan making Bagneres the ideal location to play at all 3 courses.

A fantastic property which lived up to our expectations. The owners were very friendly and made excellent suggestions for day trips. The house was clean well-maintained and all fittings and fixtures were very new. I particularly liked the main bedroom and all the storage. I would definitely recommend the property as it was very convenient for the town and within short drives of some beautiful places. We visited Pont d'Espagne, Pic du Midi (go early) Tarbes and Pau. The restaurant at the Hotel St Vincent near the church in Bagneres de Bigorre was excellent.The mini golf in the town is also worth a visit.
