Very spacious self catering detached villa with fantastic sea views overlooking Aigua Blava bay. The villa has a number of very large terraces facing into the bay so the sun is maximised all day long, yet there are two covered terraces on different levels if you want a shady spot in the heat of the day. There are five bedrooms and four bathrooms in the main house and there is a 'studio' apartment which is not rented separately in which there is a further double bedroom, small siting room and shower with WC., The main living area is open plan with an American style kitchen so very user friendly. There are three separate dining areas with BBQ on two different levels so lots of choice for al fresco eating. There is a games area with a table tennis table. The pool terrace is spacious and well furnished with sun loungers,(16) a table and chairs and even a poolside bar, all you need to do is stock it !!! This villa really is ideal for large groups who love to entertain and BBQ.

Aigua Blava is one of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean with soft white sand gently sloping into the sea it is a fantastic beach for families with small children. It is the jewel in the crown of all the beaches in the area and widely acknowledged as one of the best beaches in Spain. The villa is just above the beach and has the benefit of also being close to Aigua Gelida cove and Tamariu bay. There are lots of restaurants and bars in the area and Begur, which is the nearest town has something for everyone. For those of us with an interest in fine food and wine it is heaven! There are markets nearby with fresh fish, meat, fruit and veg open every day. There area lots of small bodegas only too happy to share their latest vintage. For the history buff in you nearby Roman ruins, for the children, every night something in Begur, the water park, toy museum. For the art lover the Dali museum and Castle. In fact there is something in this area for everyone. You should stay for a month!

What a place!! we had a superb holiday

What a place! we had the most amazing holiday in this villa. There were 10 of us in total from all over the place having a family get together to celebrate our parents 50th anniversary. Most of tThe family came from Switzerland and Germany so from much colder climes than the sunny Costa Brava or indeed Florida where we call home. They all drove down and within a few short hours were in the sun. Our family ranged in age from seventy something to teens.
The villa is on the top of a hill and has great views down to the sea. We saw a pod of whales in the distance and were astounded at the ever changing vista. The villa itself was very spacious, clean, bright and well maintained. There was everything we needed in catering for our group. Some of us are interested in cooking and enjoyed using the local mediterranean ingredients bought locally in the market. The fish and shellfish was wonderful and choice was a treat even for those of us coming from the USA. We found the kitchen to be well equipped, lots of saucepans, crockery and there were plenty of serving dishes etc.,
We found that the villa was so comfortable we didn't really want to go anywhere else. There are lots of outside terraces, no real garden as such but that was completely understandable when you see the terrain. There is a games room under the villa which the teenagers spent hours upon hours in when the pool terrace was too warm in the midday sun.
When we could drag ourselves away we spent our time walking the coastal paths and cycling inland near Peratalada (on David's advice). The countryside is just beautiful and we were lucky to be there for the wild flowers.
The people who look after this villa for the owners are very helpful, friendly and efficient. We couldn't ask for better service they were just brilliant. Thankyou David and Phil !!
We hope we don't have to wait unti our parents are married another 50 years before we get to go back!!
Owner's Response: Thank you for your great review. You picked a great time to come to the Costa Brava. In May/June there is normally a wonderful climate for getting out and about. I understand from David that you really did a lot of walking and cycling. This area is perfect for walking in May,June and again in September and October , it tends to be beach weather in July and August. I am glad you found cooking enjoyable lots of people come and don't cook at all. The restaurants here are so good and so reasonably priced that it is often easier to eat out. For 'foodies' this area is really impressive and as you mentioned the raw ingredients are wonderful. Not to mention the wine to accompany the food! We try to make the villa as comfortable as possible and this year have added to the kitchen equipment and have made some upgrades since you were here in May so hopefully it is even more user friendly and comfortable.
Thanks again for your positive feedback and hopefully you will make it back again.

excellent for large groups

We stayed in this villa August 2007 and would definitely return. The view was spectacular, lovely and peaceful location, plenty of terraces for outside dining with an abundance of space inside and out. Car required to get to beach due to very steep hill, however worth it as very few brits around, just the locals! Probably not suitable for families with small children (due to property being on steep hilside) but perfect for adults and teenagers.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. We spent the winter completely revamping the house with a new kitchen, bathrooms etc., so it is even nicer now than when you were here. We have also made provision for a gate between the pool terrace and the villa so that little ones can no longer access the area without supervision. We have also made the covered terrace on the lower level into a 'games' area with a table tennis table etc., So whilst there is no flat garden area there is certainly lots of space to play.
We have had many families with small children to stay who have enjoyed their holiday and have also returned again. Hope to see you in the near future.

We expected good views but they are really spectacular and far beyond our expectations! The villa was so quiet it was magic sitting watching the sun set over Aigua Blava bay in the evenings. We really enjoyed the villa we have been coming to Begur for 23 years and this is the best holiday ever! Thank you for sharing your holiday home with us. See you next year!
