Photos and Description of this Seine-Maritime holiday house A newly renovated 'Fisherman's House', all electric, new quality furnishings

This traditional fisherman’s house on 4 levels is located just 20 metres from the spectacular beach at Etretat. From the top two floors you have a panoramic view of the cliffs, beach and sea. All furniture is new and of high quality, with large double beds 180cm wide, firm latex mattresses. There are three double bedrooms, and a smaller sitting room with a convertible couch as well. The salon, on the ground floor, is a space of 25sq metres complete with open plan “American” kitchen. The appliances are all new. Washing machine. Total surface area is 90sq metres. Electric heating. Linens are supplied. Etretat is one of France’s most beautiful resort towns. It was a sleepy fisherman’s village until it was discovered in the 19th century by some of France’s most renowned artists and writers. Monet painted many scenes here; Maupassant and Offenbach lived and worked here. Now it is a protected village, a “site classée”, to maintain its historic and natural beauty.

Etretat is a world-renowned site of natural beauty. The falaises, the white cliffs, cast a particular and soft light on everything. It was the extraordinary light of Etretat that draw the early impressionist painters, Monet in the lead, to live here and paint. His images of Etretat are to be found now in modern art museums all around the world. This corner of France is also famous for his history. William the Conqueror sailed from Fécamp, just 15km away, to conquer England. His cathedral still stands and is still in use. Le Havre, the great port of the Seine is 25km away. It is a UNESCO protected site for its stunning modern architecture. Rouen, once France’s second city, is just an hour away. It houses what some say is the best collection of late medieval stained glass in its two magnificent cathedrals. And the Norman countryside is all around us. It is hard to believe that such beauty is nestled in a corner just a couple hours from Paris or Brussels. Close to Honfleur, Deauville.

An 18 hole masterpiece on the cliffs above the sea affords spectacular views and a challenging game, especially when the wind is blowing! The golf club has very reasonable green fees and we will be happy to set up times for you so you are guaranteed a place before you come to Etretat. There is a delightful clubhouse at the course with a fine restaurant overlooking the town and beach from on high. We will be happy to reserve your dinner for you there, or at one of several fine restaurants in Etretat or the surroundings.

Other Activities: Etretat boasts one of France's most beautiful golf courses, with a magnificent view over the cliffs.
