Honfleur is a perfect location and there is so much to do. You can wander around the quaint cobbled streets, watch the world go by at the many cafes and restaurants along the famous old harbour (vieux bassin), stroll out to sea, marvel at the oldest wooden church in France, visit the composer of Gymnopedie, Erik Satie's, birth home, visit the museums and art galleries in the place where impressionism began and spot where they, and later Raoul Dufy, painted! Or you can swim, play tennis, play golf, cycle and walk in the surrounding forests. Further afield are the Bayeux tapestry, the Normandy landing beaches, or the cheese and cider routes through pretty towns and villages. The seafood is delicious and not to be missed; but also make sure you try Calvados, the local brandy made from apples. Honfleur has so much to offer and once seen you will always want to return. The narrow, tall, slate clad houses of the old harbour make it one of the most photographed and prettiest towns in France.
