Set in a small hamlet between Civray (all facilities) + Charroux (small market town), both 5mins by car, this charming stone built cottage is an ideal base for relaxing holidays, an excellent hide-away for those who seek a bit of peace and quiet. Fully fitted kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, extractor fan, sink, two tiled work surface areas, large family size fridge, dining area divided off from the kitchen area by breakfast bar, exposed beams, cosy lounge with stone fireplace and wood burner, television, exposed beams, shower room with corner shower unit, wash basin set in vanity unit with large mirror, seperate WC. First floor with two bedrooms, one double (140) + cot, one with one double (140) and two singles (90). Garage with washing machine. Set in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes, southern part of the Vienne (86), there are a multitude of treasures to discover but if the weather is good you won't want to budge from the cottage except perhaps to do your shopping & sample the local markets. Daily requirements are all close to hand at Civray + Ruffec. Alternatively 4 major cities easily accessible, Poitiers, renowned for Futuroscope the futuristic adventure park with exciting images and scientific wizardry, Angouleme, Niort with its 'marais poitevin' (Venice vert) a system of endless canals attracting an abundance of wildlife, Limoges dedicated to porcelain. La Rochelle approx 1.30hrs with its beautiful old port + fantastic sea food restaurants, Royan with its fabulous beaches + Zoo at 'La Palmyre' incredible flamingos, Cognac for brandy + pineau distilleries. Closer to home the folklore festival at Confolens is a must, the Monkey farm at Romagne children love or simply enjoy walking/biking the surrounding countryside

Additional information about rental rates

  • Please note the cottage is Saturday to Saturday changeover day - starting dates as above, arrivals from 16.30pm and departures the Saturday morning by 9.30am.
    A deposit of 25% of the total cost of your holiday is required at the time of booking paid by bankers draft or bank transfer and a final payment of the rest, 28 days prior to arrival date (see further on..). Booking form to be completed, dated and signed by the head of your party accepting the booking terms and conditions as specified on behalf of the full party of occupants for the period reserved. Linen can be supplied on supplement at 15 euros per double set and 10 euros per single set. Tea towels are supplied but not bath towels.
    Prices include water + electricity during main season rentals.
    Electricity on meter reading at local costs during lower season rentals from 15th of September 2007 through to 24th of May 2008 and there after 20th of September 2008, exclusive of any pool filtration.

  • Payment is in EUROS:-
    You are advised to order an International Bankers Draft in euros for both deposits and final payments from your local bank, these should be made payable to Mrs. R.L. Reid and cash-able in PARIS France, not the UK and posted with your booking form to Mrs R.L. Reid at 'Vergné' 86400 Savigné France, full receipt and confirmation of your booking will be sent by return. These Bankers Drafts normally have to be ordered in advance and cost approx £18.
    Cancellations:- If for any reason you have to cancel your booked holiday please contact me asap and I will endeavor to re-book the period reserved by your party. If you cancel I reserve the right to with hold the full deposit paid and/ or full final payment, however if I am successful in re-booking your dates then your payment will be returned less any additional advertising costs. You may also try to re-book your own holiday under the same terms and conditions - or transfer your holiday to friends or other relations.
  • You are advised to have travel insurance covering this eventuality, especially last minute cancellations.
    Linen supplements are refundable where beds have not been made up in advance.
    A breakages deposit of 100euros is to be added to all bookings and will be returned to you within 4 weeks after your holiday,
    For bank to bank transfers - these are only acceptable where all the transfer fees have been paid by the client, please request banking details.
    You are also advised to take out an insurance for all of your party covering personal belongings, travel, cancellations and particularly health insurance for any medical treatments.
    Please request the booking terms and conditions and read them carefully.
    You will receive full receipts for deposits, final payments, full directions packs, etc.
