Kalkan is a beautiful harbour on the Aegean coast. 1 hour from the International Airport Dalaman it is a popular stopping off point for Turkish Gulet boats as they take their clients to the wonderful restaurants Gironda, Coast and Aubergine.It is 5 mins drive to the picture postcard Kaputas Beach and 15mins from the 12mile Patara beach where Loggerhead Turtles nest. Salient Gorge, the longest canyon in Turkey is ten minutes. Kas, Patara and Fethiye are great day trips, as is the Trout Farm. The ancient Lycian archaeological sites of Xanthos, Kekova,Letoon, Pinara and Tlos are popular. Other Ancient sites of interest are Pamukkale the curious natural wonder where the Romans used to bathe in the natural thermal springs. Ephesus too is a day trip,the 10,000 year old ancient city was the largest in Asia Minor and one of the Seven Wonders of the world. If you wish to get off land, Scuba diving in the crystal clear waters, wakeboarding, waterskiing and paragliding are all available locally

Flights are available to Dalaman from all UK airports. There is some flexibility on dates but usually Sun to Sun or Mon to Mon best. For flights try Thomson, Xl airways, Goldtrail, Onur Air, Thomas Cook etc. Dalaman airport has recently been rebuilt to International standards so travel is simply easy.

Notes to the rental rates

  • Not included in the rates are welcome packs (wine, beer, cheese, bread, milk, eggs, etc) £20. If you require a daily maid service as opposed to weekly this is available. English speaking qualified baby sitter also available.
    Last minute bookings can be taken as there is a key holder in Kalkan near to the property.
    Security deposit of 50% is required at time of booking. Full fee to be paid one month before. One passport or credit card details to be held by managing agent as security at destination for bond.
  • Payments: A deposit of £500 of the rental cost is payable on booking and confirmation will not be effected until the whole of the deposit has been received. The balance of rental payments must be made 8 weeks prior to the beginning of the rental period. Non payment of the balance within this period will constitute notice of cancellation and the property will be re-offered and cancellation conditions applied.
    Cancellation: Should you, for whatever reason, cancel the booking, you will have the right to repayment of all money paid minus cancellation charges. Cancellation is effected only when written notification is received by Villa Yar or in the event of non payment of balances. Cancellation charges are based on total rental payments and are calculated from the date of the rental period as follows:
    1) More than 56 days prior: 30%
    2) Between 30 days and 56 days prior: 50%
    3) Between 15 days and 29 days prior: 80%
    4) 14 days or less: 100%
  • Note on rates: Please note: villayar is a home from home, whilst some other villas may be cheaper this is English owned and English managed. The quality of all fixtures and fittings make this villa a premium kalkan property. If you wish for the best in life this is it ,for only a small fee above the typical holiday rental. All rooms have air conditioning. Master suite has digital safe, flat screen TV and ipod station.There is a sofa bed in the lounge. All floors are Travertine throughout and all rooms have sea views! Its extremely private so if you want a Kalkan property last minute this is the one!

Maid service, chef, driver etc all available. The motorboat is a 21 speedboat available through Marlin Watersports. The owner is a keen wakeboarder and wet suits and boards available. If its wind surfing, waterskiing or parasailing its all here and being a waterfront property you can walk to the villa from the boat.Car rental for the villa is at a special rate of £17 per day all insurance included.

Wakeboard Lessons

The villa owner is present for up to ten weeks of the season and may be available for wakeboard lessons. Kalkan is perfect if you wish to water-ski too. The bay of Kalkan is flat calm most mornings and evenings. If its a golfing holiday you are after you will be disappointed. This is for excellent walking, ancient ruins, beaches, gulet and sailing cruises horse riding, tennis and mountain biking. If you don't have the energy the villa comes with various books, scrabble, backgammon and cards. Perfect, just sit on the roof terrace and escape!

Scuba Diving

Lessons and PADI courses available personally and can be booked in advance by the owners direct. Two qualified Scuba boats are berthed at Kalkan harbour and sail daily to the dive sites. Diving in Turkey is excellent with visability in excess of 30mts.

Beach Trips and Gulet boats

Patara beach and Kaputas beach are both wonderful. Why not pack a hamper and spend the day swimming in the Lycian sea? Alternatively hire a Gulet boat for the day and sail around the islands. A full day including food starts at £10 per person.

Other Activities Wakeboarding and Kitesurfing

Skiing Information:

Did you know you can ski in Turkey?! Yes you can! Skiing available in the winter in the Atlas Mountains.

Golf Information:

Golf is not really available here. Golfers wishing to golf in Turkey should head to Belek near Antalya. Three hrs by car.

We came to Kalkan from Yorkshire and left the miserable rain behind. Sitting in the hammock on the balcony watching my friends laze the hours away by our own pool was pure bliss. With all rooms overlooking the sea and the bay we were spoilt for choice. The jacuzzi was decadent in itself and the gin and tonic only added to the chill out moods played from the lounge music system. Kalkan has its own beach but most people opt to swim from the pontoons and jettys attached to the private beach clubs.The sea is crystal clear and the Gulet trip was amazing! The villa is stunning, well designed by the British owners, it is managed by Ellie an English lady. She is on call 24/7 and helps with the inventory and huge visitors book! If you wish for a holiday to get away from the hustle bustle yet stay in a cosmopolitan resort ,Kalkan is it. We were going to book a hotel but 4 of us stayed in the whole villa for the price two would pay in a hotel! Recommended..You bet! Coming back? Yes! RW Harrogate
