This was a very charming house, full of character. Situated near Bernkastel, it offers the opportunity to travel to a wide range of sites, and our week was simply not long enough.
The property itself was well presented, and as described on the website, although we did find the kitchen to be smaller than anticipated, and if four people were staying, the amount of crockery might be insuficient.
Ideally, the property would be more suited to two people.
We really enjoyed our week in the property, especially when the sun shone in the second half of the week.
Don't miss the walk across the river, starting at the Roman ruins. The views of Erden are wonderful!
Owner's Response: There should be sufficient dishes for four people in the kitchen and dining/living room at all times. There are a few dishes in the kitchen, as well as most of the cooking pots and serving pieces. However, the primary porcelain service is located in the dining room cabinet, including four soup bowls, four dinner plates, four cups and saucers, four salad plates, four desert/bread plates, a serving platter, cream and sugar, and a vegetable serving dish. Wine glasses, champagne flutes and pewter shots are also available in sufficient quantities. Water glasses and coffee mugs are kept in the kitchen. More wine and liquer glasses are kept in the wine cellar cabinet. If additional pieces are needed, please ask Olaf & Ingrid (managers) to get a few more from the maid's cabinet where the backup set is kept.
While the kitchen is admittedly small, it should be sufficient to cook for four persons. The kitchen does have a coffee maker, an espresso maker, hot water cooker, a two-burner stove top and a small refrigerator. Although we do not have an oven, there is a microwave oven and a tabletop grill is available upon request.
I stay in the house myself every summer and will try to correct any deficiencies in the house as quickly as possible and to the level my guests expect.
