Lovely Apartment but .....

A lovely large apartment but not kept in very good condition by local cleaners/management. Some patio funiture in poor condition and dirty. Internal furnishings somewhat exotic and cluttered. Dogs roaming the beach and local streets leaving their mess behind were a constant nuisance. Beach in front of apartment not very pleasant because of this although there is an excellent beach just arond the corner. Two good restaurants close by. Locals very friendly.
Owner advised of the hygiene problems in the apartment by letter on my return to the UK. Several weeks later no reply received. Poor customer service. Would not recommend this property to a friend.
Owner's Response: Out of all the rentals we have had over a period of more than 10 years, 45% are repeat bookings and over 25% of guests have been to the apartment between 3 and 12 times ! This is the very first complaint we have received. Above guests did book out of season and booked at very short notice, still there should not be the need for complaints about the cleanliness of the apartment and we are having a serious discussion with our management about this incident, which we strongly believe to be a one off. As for dogs roaming the streets of Southern Portugal, this is a feature of an Algarve holiday, that I can honestly not do a lot about. What really seemed to have upset these particular guests, was the late response to their letter. Well, the booking was made bey e-mail, so was the rest of the correspondance - the guests were advised, that I was going abroad , so it was impossible for me to answer to a letter sent to my home address. I did take my computer to keep in touch with all e-mails and a response by e-mail would have got an immediate answer.
As for our guests personal opinion about the interior design of the apartment, I decline to respond - look at the pictures and judge for yourselve, whether you like it or not.
