Located only a 1000m from the main famous Golf Court of Madeira, in Santo da Serra, it is surrounded by a spectacular garden, where the trees almost touch the sky.The house itself,provides a complete and wonderful stay to its guests,as comfort was the first and prior care of the owners.Every simple detail has been considered,and on the arrival at the house, no one can be indifferent.Located in a small villa in the country,only 8kmt away from the airport,activities like tennis,golf,horsing,walking levadas,boat trips,and other sea sports can be carried away.Casa da Lena is 800mts far from the center of the village,where you can find 3 supermarkets,bakery,restaurants with take away,church,medical center, and every Sunday ,a very complete and visited market.Either in the gardens or in the house,it is difficult to find a place with such a high level of beauty,peace, and harmony. Be welcome!

Nearest Airport : Aeroporto Internacional da Madeira at 8 Kilometres
Nearest Beach : beach at 8 Kilometres

Located in the middle of the mountains,it stands in the center of everything.From there, you can go either to a mountain walk or through one of our wonderful Levadas.All the north and easth part of the Island,can be reach from Santo da Serra,and in a minute you can be eigther in the up hill, like Pico do Areeiro,or in the other by the sea in one of our beaches.If you would prefer to reach a more distant place,like the natural pools of Porto Moniz,you can take the Via Rapida,and you will see how close it gets .Funchal,which is the capital of Madeira, can also be easily reached by Via Rapida,and it is where you can find shopping centers, cinemas,and everything that has to do with big cities.If you prefer a more quiet place, you must go to Caniçal, famous for it´s grilled fish and only a few minutes away from Santo da Serra. It is also recommended to visit the Natural Park in Santana,where you can spend the whole day. But remember Golf is just by the door, you don´t have to leave at all.

Notes: As we live in an Island, all our guests must arrive by plane. We know, that the flight companies do not allow more than 20kgs for the luggage, which is not very much. So , we make a big effort, trying to have in our houses everything that may be necessary during your stay. So, you don´t have to bring : bed linen, pillows, bath towels, dish towels, iron, iron table, hair dryer, flash light or umbrellas. We would appreciate any other suggestions you may leave us, in order to help all the guests of the house. To help you enjoy your time, we have in the house a surrounding stereo system , and we provide you with very good quality of musicals and interesting films.All this material is part of the house, and shall not be taken anywhere. We are now trying to create a small library, so we would very much appreciate if you could leave us any of your holiday books. We thank you , and future guests will too.

Good house for families with kids

We had a great 2 week vacation in this charming house. Our kids loved playing in the huge garden which had plenty of great places for hide and seek. The house if very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is great if you like to cook. Bring your sweater if you come in the winter - it can be cool in the morning - but the wood stove works very well.

An excellent place to relax!

We stayed at this property for 1 week and it was excellent. It is full of character, beautiful furniture, very comfortable and quiet. Excellent access for the whole island. The owners made us very welcome and ensured we had everything we needed.

We would certainly consider it again for a relaxing break.

Casa da Lena - I wish it were my house.

My wife and I stayed in Casa da Lena in mid August 2009. Just the two of us in this spacious house with its own enormous, beautiful grounds. We could not believe our luck in finding this place. The owners Roberto and Helena are really friendly and helpful, everything in the house works and it is beautifully furnished. There are levada walks nearby and the airport, motorway into Funchal and other amenities are just a few km away. We would definitely recommend this place for a quiet stay in the hills of Madeira. Handy if you like golf, walking - or just doing nothing. Good value for money.

Wonderful Casa da Lena

An excellent quiet and romantic place, perfect for our family of four. The interior and the equipement is perfectly arranged. The rooms are comfortable and light flooded, especially the large living room with its convenient sofas and the fire places for sometimes "shady" evenings. We loved to have longlasting breakfasts in the glazed winter garden with its loveley view over the garden. The large and beautiful garden is kept in typical maderensic style. All important destinations, i.e. Funchal, airport, levada walks, golf course, farmer`s market, grocery shopping-centers can be reached within 5-10 minutes by car. To cut a long story short: we had a wonderful time in this comfortable house at Madeira island. We can thoroughly reccomend this location!

Very attractive villa and gardens, which are very extensive and well kept. Picturesque, mountain village with friendly people and shops within comfortable walking distance with friendly service. Very nice park with caged animals to spend a pleasant hour or more or picnic. Good little Sunday market in the local village. Hot and sunny in our private gardens, caught a good tan, even in second week of March and at 980 mtrs. elevation. On the whole, a tranquil, natural setting which we found very rejuvenating. We only wish it could have been two weeks instead of one. The owners went out of their way to meet us at the airport and guide us to the villa, even though we had hired a car. Two very lovely and accommodating people. If only all properties and their respective owners were of this standard of care and value for money.
