For adventure seekers, a family, friends, spend a night or a few on a very high standing barge full of natural light all for yourselves in a fixed mooring place near the owners house on one of the best mooring places on the Burgundy Canal!, an incredible location for a stopover on the way to the South, half way between the North and the South France. From the A6 motorway only a 10 mins drive to where the barge is moored up, an incredible location as shown on the photos at the foot of a medieval village. On board: 2 cabins, one with 2 single beds 90 X 2m and in the other cabin 2 single beds 80 X 1M90, a spacious bathroom with large walk in shower & toilet, plus a private toilet. For those who stay for a few nights a fully equipped kitchen and barbecue on the sundeck. Flat screen International TV, DVD, IPOD, Bread & croissants delivered in the morning. On-deck area perfect for enjoying the view & sunshine, sunbathe & relax in comfortable chaise lounges.

FOR THOSE WHO LOVE BOATS, WATER, NATURE! Holiday accommodation for a family, friends or 2 couples for 1 night or for a few nights!! Lovely place for a stopover between the North & the South of France the barge is moored up at only a 15 mins drive from the motorway A6 AT ONLY A 45MINS DRIVE WEST OF DIJON this barge is moored up at the foot of a medieval village Châteauneuf en Auxois one of the prettiest villages in France (restaurants) at 300m from the nearest village of Vandenesse en Auxois (restaurants) and only a 20 mins drive North of Beaune, The owners of this barge have their house at less than 200m. There is 220v and water on board. The owner is a qualified pilot with 35 years of barging experience cruising on the canals in Europe. If the Captain Max is available and the weather is good and you wish to cruise a few locks then the price that the Captain will need to ask is 550 euros for 1 days cruise.

    Every day fresh croissants & baguettes delivered to the barge and left in the wheelhouse for you! All the bases are on board, coffee, tea, sugar, milk, jams etc. For those who stay longer a well equipped kitchen to 'cook in'.

    Possible to stay just for 1 night price 170 euros for 4 persons max.

    For 7 nights 950 euros for 4 persons
    No need for a deposit , full payment can be paid by bank transfer or by check or if wished on arrival in euros cash, please ask Beatrice for more information.

POSSIBLE DAYS CRUISE: After many many years working on luxurious hotel barges and buying apartments in the heart of the historical city center where they have created a great self catering business, Max & Bea have at long last bought their own barge! For 2010 THE DUKE will be moored up at only 100m from their country house on one of the best mooring spots here on the BURGUNDY CANAL. Fresh croissants and bread will be delivered every morning, on board there are all the bases, as well as milk, butter, jams, etc. IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD AND IF MAX IS AVAILABLE WHY NOT CRUISE FOR THE DAY, price 550 euros.

Possible to do a Wine tour with Max for 4 persons with his air-conditioned mini-van from 09:15hrs to 15:00hrs Price 260 euros, lunch is extra

Bicycling alongside the Burgundy Canal: 4 bicycles available on board THE DUKE for you to cycle on the well maintained cycle path that follows the CANAL!

Golf: Golf at Chateau de Chailly, only a 20 mins drive from wher ethe barge is moored up!

Fabulous experience on "The Duke"

We had the best unexpected stay on "The Duke" because we changed our itinerary and Bea and Max offered their beautiful barge for our 6 night stay. We really enjoyed our peaceful and relaxing stay in the Burgundy Countryside, but just a short drive from Dijon.
Bea and Max made "The Duke" very homely with loads of personal touches like fresh flowers and candles. They also made it very safe with a life vest for our 5 year old son.
We found it interesting watching the other barges on the canal and watching how the locks work. It was beautiful waking up to the misty mornings and looking out at the beautiful castle high on the hill.
We certainly plan to return to "The Duke" when we're next in the Burgundy region.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
