OUTSIDE AREA & SWIMMIMG POOL AT 'VILLA LUSITANA':
The large heated swimming pool has sun on it all day. It has 3 steps running the width of the pool at the shallow end - great for toddlers to play on! Then the depth goes to approx.1mt gradually going to approx.1.5mts in the 'deep' end. Children's safety was very much in mind when designing the pool & it has an electric cover over it at night to retain the heat, also a safety precaution. NO diving should be allowed. The surrounding garden is of a contemporary design with a table tennis area. A Hot Tub is on the roof & a couple of extra sun beds for any one wishing to get away from the pool area or for serious sun worshippers!! The hot tub is great to ease any aches/pains after golf or a walk or just to relax with a glass of 'Bubbly' & enjoy the spectacular scenery. NO children should be allowed into it without adult supervision.
Porto Dona Maria has a small complex below us with a fabulous v.large swimming pool, lawn area & cafe which our guests are entitled to use if they so wish.
VILLA EXTRAS (MANY) & MORE ABOUT PORTO DONA MARIA:
'Villa Lusitana' has air conditioning throughout, with most of the rooms also having ceiling fans as well. Under floor heating for the winter, central sound system, constant hot water, wireless internet access, American fridge/freezer with ice maker & chilled filtered water, drinks fridge, dishwasher, BBQ, heated swimming pool, Hot Tub, table tennis, hairdryers, safes+ much more! Even a central vacuum system - not that that should concern you! Porto Dona Maria has 24hr security on site, although it's a very quiet & peaceful location with many of the Villa's being owned privately.
There is a cafe & bar at the reception area of Porto Dona Maria & a fabulous evening restaurant called 'L'Escargot' where 'Nuno' will do his best to accomodate your every wish including home catering if you fancy a meal brought into the Villa. Just a VERY short stroll away from the Villa is a new golf academy with driving range, etc. which should be open early 2009. Bikes can be hired from the reception too.
LAGOS approx.10min drive from Villa Lusitana..:
Lagos is one of the oldest & largest towns in the Algarve. Still a fishing town, it is also a major market centre for the region & many people consider Lagos the most likeable town on the Algarve coast, with its beautiful marina &, although steeped with history dating back to the 15th century, it is now a youthful town with a refreshing & relaxed charm all of its own.Set within a still largely intact set of Roman walls, the centre of Lagos is a maze of winding cobbled streets full of pavement restaurants, cafes bars, museums & art shops.There is plenty to do & see here whether it’s exploring its lovely historic past or to shop, dine or just to watch the world go by! There is a large selection of places to eat here & fresh fish is a specialty at many of the restaurants. There is lots of nightlife to enjoy too. Cocktails seem to have become a Lagos speciality and you will find plenty of bars in which to sample them. Also wander around the marina admiring the lovely yachts or hire a boat.
Golf:
The closest golf course to the villa is the 'Boavista' which is the newest & much praised course situated just to the other side of Praia da Luz & only 3km from the villa. It has other facilities there i.e. tennis, indoor pool & a spa. We are within a 15 min.drive to 'Parque da Floresta' golf course, which also has extra facilities open to all i.e. tennis, lawn bowls,archery & a spa. The same distance is the 'Palmaras' golf course, to the east of Lagos, which is very picturesque & has 5 unique links holes along the dunes of Meia Praia beach & then there is the championship 'Penina' golf course which is approx. a 20 min drive away, as are the 3 courses at Silves. All the other courses around Quinta da Lago, Vale do Lobo & Villamoura are also very accessible (all within a 45 min. easy drive) now that there is the very convenient A22 motorway.
We can also arrange golf at most courses with good discounts & golf rental (Callaway, Ping, Taylormade, etc.) - if required.
On the complex on which the Villa is situated there has just been built a golf academy with driving range, etc. which should be open imminently & this is just a VERY short stroll away from the Villa.
This is an ideal luxury base for any group of golfers & non- golfers alike as it can accommodate up to 10 adults, has outstanding sea views & is within close proximity to both Praia da Luz & the lovely fishing village of Burgau for great restaurants, pubs, etc. The Hot Tub to relax in after golf is an added bonus!
