The local area La Manga Club lies amid rolling hills that separate the Mediterranean from the warm waters of the Mar Menor sea in Murcia, southern Spain. The region is known as the Costa Calida or 'warm coast' thanks to its mild, all year Mediterranean climate. La Manga Strip is a narrow strip of land, which is over 22 kilometres long and stretches from the nearby pretty fishing village of Cabo de Palos. With beaches fronting both the Med and the crystal clear saltwater lagoon of the Mar Menor, the region is ideal for water sports and numerous sailing centres offering lessons in windsurfing, water skiing and sailing. Cartagena is just 20k away and is an ancient port with ruins of a Roman theatre and there are several museums. Inland lies the countryside of Murcia, bordered by the dry semi desert plain of Almeria. The city of Murcia is the region's capital some 70 k away with excellent shopping.
