The town of Boville Ernica provides visitors with an opportunity to look back at the art, history and traditions of that rare gem, a yet-to-be discovered area of central Italy.
Pre-Roman archaeological sites, Roman remains, the castle and the surrounding medieval wall, the peculiar story of its “condimini partecipes”, buildings and churches from the Renaissance era are all stories of Boville waiting to be told.Boville was well known for its craftsmanship and some of the old trades still survive today. One of the handicrafts for which the town is known is embroidery, an art which has grown over time with the presence of the Benedictine nuns based in a convent in the centre of the village and who produce real masterpieces with a needle and thread. Walking down the streets and alleyways of Boville it is still possible to see small shops where craftsmen work, giving colour and warmth to the daily life of the village.
