The living area was the original 1870's ballroom, south facing with three magnificent windows on to the sun-trap balcony /terrace with Weber barbeque overlooking the finest South Kensington archway. The grand fireplace is a delight. The master bedroom has a Jenson queen, four poster bed with en-suite whirlpool bath/ spa shower. Bedroom two has twin beds and a shower room. The reception room, with 14 feet corniced ceiling, has three leather sofas, a large Yew-wood desk, broadband, flat screen TV, DVD player and new Denon DAB tuner / CD. The flat will suit people who enjoy triple the space of a Five Star hotel suite at one third the price! This is a lively, elegant and central neighbourhood, close to a variety of restaurants, shopping, pubs, Royal Albert Hall and three of the great Museums.The flat has 11 windows - 4 of them 35 to 41 sq ft of glass. The CANADIAN owners, run a travel website, hence travel a great deal. After a very full June, July and August we now have Availability!

The flat is in South Kensington, between Queens Gate and Gloucester Road, south of HYDE PARK / Kensington Gardens. Closest tube is Gloucester Road on the Picadilly, District and Circle Lines - a 4 minute walk, South Ken tube is 7 min. HARRODS is a 14 minute walk as is the shopping on Kensington High Street. The West End is a short taxi or bus trip - you can be at PICCADILLY CIRCUS and theatreland in less than 15 minutes on the Underground. Chelsea and Knightsbridge are also close. This central London neighborhood is popular with wealthy bankers, celebrities and diplomats. There are 22 Embassies in the area - very secure. ROYAL ALBERT HALL is 5 minutes away, The NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM is closer. There are a dozen good pubs (Queens Arms, Anglesea Arms) and restaurants within 3 to 12 minutes - yet the apartment itself is on a quiet bit of road. The flat overlooks the most glorious Kensington archway- Queens Gate Gardens are in view - pleasant to enjoy from the 250 sq ft balcony.

The new twin beds may be pushed together to make a double if required. There is a third bedroom which the owners use for storage, hence not available. All sheets and towels are 100% cotton. Hairdryers available. This is a no smoking , no pets apartment.

A wonderful stay in South Kensington

Our family of four spent a delightful 10 days in this bright and spacious Central London flat. It is well equipped with quality appliances and everything necessary to make it feel like home. The high ceilings and large windows make the flat very bright and airy. We enjoyed sipping wine on the terrace with some of our London friends and family. They too were impressed with our accommodations.

We loved the neighbourhood-everything was close and the tube station and small shopping complex only a three to four minute walk. I should add that the owners were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

We have travelled extensively throughout the world and this flat was one of our very best rental experiences. I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who appreciates a quality flat in one of Central London's most sought after neighbourhoods. We hope to return.

Great Flat in an Excellent Location

We travel to London about once a year, and always rent a flat. This July we rented the Queen’s Gate flat from Chris and Janice, and were very happy with our choice!

The flat is located on a quiet street in South Kensington, and is literally five minutes from the Gloucester Road tube station (which has a very good supermarket next door), and five minutes from Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall (where the BBC Proms are held every summer).

The flat itself is very light and airy, and the balcony was great for soaking in some sun, BBQ-ing and people-watching while having wine and cheese. The “ballroom” (living room) has leather couches that were wonderful for relaxing, listening to music or reading a book.

The kitchen is well equipped, and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. Chris and Janice are very nice and were extremely helpful in answering our questions. Would we stay there again? Absolutely!

Vacation of a Lifetime

Location, location, location! Close to Underground, bus routes, and everything (restaurants and points of interest) on the westside of London yet on a quiet street with a balcony that we enjoyed every night.

Our children shared the downstairs, we had our space upstairs (beautiful Master bath) while we enjoyed family time in the great room and on the balcony. Kitchen is well equipped. Our son used his computer and the internet every night.

Owner is very accomadating.

Winter Holiday

My three children ( aged 15, 13 and 8) and I spent a wonderful 10 days in this apartment just before Christmas 2008. The apartment was large, very comfortable and felt like home almost immediately. It is perfectly located, very close to the V&A , Natural History and Science Museums with a great supermarket, restaurants and Tube nearby. The property was very clean and in great condition and the owners left it well stocked with kitchen stuff like oil, salt and pepper etc so we didn't need to by some of those basics. The owners are extremely helpful with information before and during our stay and the apartment had everything we needed as a family. It felt like we were staying in the home of friends. We really loved the Science Museum and because it is free and so close, we were able to go there several times. Hyde Park was also only a short walk - perfect for very active 8 year old boys! I would highly recommend this apartment to people who want a place with personality and space.

My daughters and I had a wonderful time in London - in part thanks to this great flat.

We had been traveling a month in Europe and it was nice to have individual space. This flat is lovely with a convenient location.
