The Idyllic Prague Cottages are situated 20 minutes NW of Prague City and 15 minutes NE of Prague Airport in a village called Cerny Vul. ('Cerny Vul' means 'black bullock' which refers to Neolithic ceramics found here) Cerny Vul is not yet big enough to be officially classed as a village, but it has a delightful relaxed atmosphere and three pub restaurants. Two government ministers have chosen Cerny Vul cottages as their holiday home hideaways. Although cars and taxis can access the Cottage, the house is situated by a Cherry Orchard off Cycle Track 8100. Cycle Track 8100 follows streams and fish lakes through the forest of 'Tichy Udoli' (Silent Valley) National Park to an intriguing rope ferry built to take cyclists and ramblers across the river Vltava and hence on to further countryside or Prague City. In the opposite direction the cycle track leads to the fairytale Ukor Castle.

A second washing machine is included in this shower room. There is an additional toilet and washbasin on the ground floor. A shower cubicle will be added in this additional toilet 2008/03 to create a second ground floor toilet shower room with wheelchair access. The extensive luxury facilities include 2 kitchen dining rooms!

We were surprised by how much cycling and walking goes on in the Czech Republic and how organised it is - it is a beautiful country which we didn't know that much about before we left. We were really pleased that we were living in the country rather than in Central Prague especially during the heat wave. We found the buses
amazing - they follow the timetable (a surprise after England). We had a great time in Cerny Vul and most of us did cycle. The people in the pub were really helpful so many thanks to everyone there. Also to Dan who efficiently picked us up and took us to airports and train stations - he is a really good 'ambassador' for the Czech Republic when you first arrive. Great place for our personal intimate wedding

The cottages (we rented both Cherry Tree and Conifer Cottages) were exactly as we expected. We had visited the location previous to our stay. The properties were very clean and well-maintained. The kitchens were well equipped and the welcome-package had all the necessities for the first morning. I would have liked to have some more kitchen towels for drying the dishes.

We had 28 people staying in the two cottages, which meant that most rooms had only 2 people (mostly couples). It was comfortable with having that many guests. Some of the rooms were next to a kitchen or a 'common' room and therefore could get a little louder. This should be thought of when having many people who might have different schedules for waking up and going to sleep, our friends and family were quite considerate of the others in the house.

The owner provided wonderful customer service. We exchanged many, many emails regarding the properties, as well as much assistance with some wedding preparations from the owner and their Czech helpers. Ben and Hana were both instrumental in making sure that our event went well and that we had only a few hiccups.

Our wedding had 65 people. On the Friday night, we had 60 people over to the Cherry Tree Cottage for a catered meal. The gardens would have been large enough, but due to the weather we used the garage and driveway. This was also sufficient in space and allowed us to set up some speakers and the tables for the food and drinks. Our ceremony took place in the garden of Cherry Tree Cottage where we had the chairs arranged in a circle. Our musicians sat inside the house with the french doors opening onto the garden (to protect their instrument should it quickly start to rain, which luckily it did not). The garden chairs provided by the owner were perfect for our event. Our dinner and party was held at the nearby Detaillo restaurant. I would recommend this property.

The bus service is convenient to enter the city, although you must watch the schedule and be aware that it can be very very busy around rush hour times. Many guests travelled daily to Prague for sight-seeing and eating. For getting some supplies (groceries and such), a rental car was very helpful. For guests with walking problems, it would be highly recommended to have a rental car. Overall, all guests were happy with their stay in Cerny Vul. People in the village were very nice and tolerant of being overrun with wedding guests for a week.

Great position close to Pargue

We really enjoyed the property. Plenty of room and nicely furnished. It is close to Prague by either car or bus. The owners were able to provide plenty of information on the local area and how to get around the area. Couple of nice restaurants of very good standard nearby.
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Great bohemian getaway

Lovely getaway, right next to such fantastic walks and scenery - and yet just 20 minutes from the centre of town. We were able to make the most of our time whatever the weather. The house itself was spacious and very well maintained. Great value for a family or large group. The pub down the road was incredibly cheap, and got to know us so we felt like locals.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities
