Les Gites Condorcet - We have recently converted our 19th century stable into our family home and 3 characterful gites: two x 8 person and one 2-3 person. We have a 3 epis classification with the Gites de France , which ensures a high standard of fixtures and fittings as well as a comprehensive inventory for the kitchen. Our property is in the heart of a vibrant village, St Laurent de la Salanque, which has a market twice a week all year round. Situated close to the beaches of Le Barcares and Canet Plage, the Pyrenees for skiing or walking, golf on the international course in St Cyprien, Andorra for duty free shopping and Spain for picturesque day trips. The climate here is fantastic all year round so whether it is a summer holiday you are looking for or a winter break, with some warm sunshine, we are ideally located. We are close to Perpignan, a city of culture and the home of the Catalan Dragons and USAP Rugby teams. We are on hand to help make your stay a memorable one.

Additional information about rental rates

  • We ask for a 25% deposit, with the balance to be paid on or before arrival.
    Payments can be made in sterling into our UK bank account. This is by prior agreement with us, as the rate of exchange will be advised in your contract.
    Payments can also be made in Euros by bank transfer or cheque.
    Please be advised that some transactions incur charges for which you will be responsible.
    The contract will come into effect once the deposit has cleared in our bank account.
    A damage contingency of 250€ will be required upon arrival; payable in cash or a French cheque.
    For our cancellation policy, please ask for our booking conditions.
  • We generally take bookings on a weekly basis with Saturdays being our changeover day.
    However in the mid season and the low season we do have weekends available.
    The cost for a 2 night stay for 8 people is 260 Euros and for a 3 night stay 350 Euros.
    Linen can be provided at a cost of 6 Euros per person and towels at a cost of 3 Euros per person.
  • We provide pillows and duvets for each bed.
    We only charge 6 Euros per person per week to provide sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases
    and 3 Euros per person for one large towel and a smaller towel.
    These towels are not to be used outside of the gite.
    During the warmer months it is usually sufficient to sleep under the duvet cover, so we may remove the duvets.
    On departure we do expect the gite to be left as you found it. We provide cleaning materials for this purpose.
    We do offer a final cleaning service at the cost of 40 Euros, which you may wish to consider!

  • The main bathroom is on the first floor and is tiled in white, giving a clean, fresh look. We have a large bath with mixer taps and a large standing area within the bath for the shower. The main light is provided by three spots. A mirror and shelf unit containing a light is on the wall above the washbasin. A set of shelves provides storage for wash items and towels. We have put hooks for towels and clothing on the back of the door. We have put a hairdryer in the gite for your use. There is a toilet and toilet roll holder. A hand towel and bath mat are provided. Bedroom 2 has an ensuite with a shower and a washbasin. There is a mirror with a light above the basin. Plenty of storage available in the cupboard under the washbasin and shelving by the shower. Downstairs we have put in a very convenient cloakroom, with a toilet and a washbasin with mirror above and a cupboard below. Behind the door we found an ideal place to hang the ironing board!

  • There is beautiful exposed stonework in all bedrooms Bedroom 1 has a 140cm double bed with two bedside tables, two lamps and a chair. We have an electric heater under the south facing window. There is a large built in wardrobe with plenty of shelving and hanging space. In the en-suite there is a shower with curtain and a wash basin with a cupboard underneath. Extra shelves are built in the en-suite area. Bedroom 2 has a large double bed 160cms with two bedside tables, two lamps and a chair. A set of shelves and a cupboard with hanging space, is provided for clothing. There is a window with a heater on the wall beneath. The Mezzanine is open plan and is the full length of the house. It has a velux window providing plenty of light. There are four single beds of 90cm in this room. There is a hanging rail under the beams and a set of drawers for clothing. There are wooden floors in all of the bedrooms.

Notes: NB We do not allow smoking inside the gite. Inside the gite we have tried to make it a real 'home from home.' Having recently finished the gite, the interior is very clean and fresh looking with most of the fixtures and fittings being brand new or having a bit of quirkiness! Nearly all of the appliances and kitchen equipment are new which hopefully will help to make your stay more pleasurable. There is a log burner (in larger gites) downstairs and electric heaters in all rooms except the cloakroom. There is pedestrian access through a gate to the front doors, with parking space outside for cars. The two larger gites have their own south-facing terrace with table and chairs, leading down to the communal walled garden which is pebbled. In the garden we have a BBQ as well as an outside shower for cooling off and a pergola, which has proved popular for both shade and for the odd aperitif!! We also have children's toys and a slide. The back gate is normally kept locked.

Sport: SKIING. We are about 2 hours drive from the French Pyrenees resorts including Font Romeu, Les Angles, Formigueres, Pyrenees 2000 and Puigmal. This makes it easy to take off early one morning and enjoy a full days skiing during your stay with us. Ski equipment can be hired in Perpignan allowing you to arrive on the slopes ready to go! GOLF. There is an international golf course about 20 minutes drive from here in St Cyprien. It has two fantastic courses, one of 18 holes and one of 9 holes. RUGBY. Perpignan is the home of the Catalan Dragon Rugby team who play in the Superleague and USAP. Matches are regularly played here between February and September. St Laurent is about 15 minutes away from the stadium in Perpignan, making it a feasible taxi ride if you fancy a meal or a few jars in Perpignan to celebrate the result! Make a weekend of it! Excellent accommodation, ideal location, great restaurants, fantastic local wines, over 300 days of sun per year. Go on, treat yourselves!

The property was as described and a pleasure to stay at.
It was clean and well maintained with much appreciated extras like a dishwasher, washing machine with milk and orange juice in the fridge.
Because of the stairs to the bedrooms I would not recommend it for the older generation say 65+ or families with exceptionally young children.
The hosts were a pleasure to deal with.
It was in a quiet location and a perfect base for exploring the surrounding French countryside.
I would definately recommend this property and if I visit the area again it would be first on my list of places to stay.
